When a team like Clemson... plays poorly in their OOC and then becomes world beaters, at least at home, it has a big negative impact on the conference as a whole.

In their OOC, they lost to Alabama at home, lost to South Carolina at home, lost to Minnesota and Georgia away and got blown out by UMass on a neutral court.

Now, in the conference schedule they knock off two top 10 ACC teams in a row, both at home.

The thing is, unless they can get some significant road wins (Cuse does not count), there is very little chance they will get an NCAA bid. This because of how poorly they played OOC.

But, it DOES bring the RPI and other rankings of the conference down as a whole, and that means some teams, like GT and FSU, will not get bids to the NCAA Tourney. Others, will get lower seeds than they should have gotten.

How many teams a conference gets into the NCAA Tourney is almost TOTALLY dependent on how the teams in the conference play in their OOC schedules. So, teams that poorly in their OOC bring everyone else in the conference down with them, if they pick it up once conference play begins.

Yeah, Swofford should get the coaches of all the teams together at the beginning of the season and impress it upon them to put more emphasis on their OOC games.

Yes..... that's it. Clemson did poorly in the OOC schedule because they weren't trying to win.

Geezus H. Christ on a cracker.
