Pitt fans marvel at the 2015 Panthers' knack for winning the close ones, and with good reason. Here is Pitt's record by coach since 1973 in games decided by 7 points or less. I omitted tie games.

Majors I (4-5); Sherrill (8-4); Fazio (9-9); Gottfried (7-8); Hackett (4-6); Majors II (3-7); Harris (18-20); Wanny (12-14); Fraud (2-4); Chryst (5-10); Narduzzi (4-1). Overall 72-87. Since the start of the Gottfried era 51-69.

I was afraid to compile the record in games decided by a field goal or less.

I leave everyone to draw their own conclusions as to the why's of the past. Clearly Pitt is heading in the right direction based on the early returns under Narduzzi.

:rolleyes:Thank you for confirming why the Lair is one of the best places to learn and share CFB and Pitt and for the time to put that listings!:p

YW, Captain. Long time reader here.

After tonight's Panther win, I'll have the courage to look up Pitt's <3 pt. margin record!
I love information, stats and backing up opinions with supporting numbers and analysis so we can all discuss them, it that way we all learn and share. Again, thank you!
