Everytime Pitt loses , people are calling for his head...it got me thinking how I truly feel about the direction of the program, and it's very hard to figure out.
I'm just above 20 , young compared to most of you posters, and so the only Pitt I know is the one who has been winning for the 13 years I can remember watching.
Last night, I remember reading how Matt painter had 2 losing seasons very recently and people were calling for his head.
He gets one or two good classes., and he is back in the top ten.
Historically we aren't very good with a few exceptions.
Other than 6 or 7 consistent contenders that have always been , how high and much can we realistically expect . I guess you could call me an apologist because all I know is Jamie Dixon coached Pitt.
I haven't seen anything but him, and I still think it would be unwise to fire him unless he misses the tourney 2 more years in a row. Realistically , in my eyes, it is absurd to consider firing a guy who has missed the tourney 2 times in 11+ years..he has criticisms..if Howland can land two 5 star players at Mississippi State, there is no reason we can't in a beautiful city.
I don't know the answer to that , but I hope that before the administration ever considers a change they get on coaches back a bit to try and pull out all the stops , because at the end of the day, I don't know who else Pitt would get that would guarantee more success..nor would I know of a coach who would wanna work for an admin that got rid of dixon. Ps I think we will be very this year, and if young doesn't go draft this year, next year we can be great.
