Lane Kiffin: Kirk Herbstreit says Lane Kiffin had a deal in place for a head coaching job, but negotiations have broken down. Herbstreit said Friday afternoon that Kiffin would become a head coach. Florida Atlantic: FAU is pursuing Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin for its head coaching job, according to the Associated Press.

Baylor: Temple associate AD / chief of staff Sean Padden has joined the Baylor staff as director of football operations. Padden spent four years at Temple. Matt Rhule also officially announced the previously-reported additions of assistants Francis Brown and Mike Siravo from Temple, personnel staffer Evan Cooper from Temple and San Antonio Reagan High School (TX) head coach David Wetzel. Temple: Old Dominion head coach Bobby Wilder met with Temple representatives earlier this week, according to the Virginian-Pilot. Wilder’s agent also tells the paper they’re hoping to have a new long-term contract with ODU by the time ODU plays its bowl game on Dec. 23.

FAU: OwlAccess.com lists several potential candidates for the FAU head coaching job, including Doug Marrone, Les Miles, Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley, Mario Cristobal, Greg Davis and Joe Moorhead.

Cincinnati: Athletic director Mike Bohn says the coaching search is ongoing and there will be no announcement today. Sports Illustrated reports Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Luke Fickell is the front-runner.

Texas: Houston board of regents chairman Tilman Fertitta tells the Houston Chronicle that UH expects defensive coordinator Todd Orlando to join Tom Herman at Texas.

Nevada: Jay Norvell’s hiring as Nevada head coach is now official. A press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

Houston: Major Applewhite’s 5-year deal will pay him a salary comparable to Tom Herman’s first season, which was $1.35 million, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Georgia Southern: Georgia Tech quarterbacks / B-backs coach Bryan Cook has accepted the offensive coordinator job at Georgia Southern, according to Scout.com. Cook has spent the past four years at Tech.

Oregon: Willie Taggart’s contract is a 5-year deal worth $16 million. He’ll receive $2.9 million in 2017 and increase annually to $3.5 million in the final year.

San Jose State: A name to watch to join the SJSU staff is Contra Costa College (CA) head coach Alonzo Carter.

Western Kentucky: Ohio State offensive coordinator Ed Warinner is in the mix at WKU, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

Houston: Houston has promoted offensive coordinator Major Applewhite to head coach. Applewhite will be the head coach in the bowl game, and multiple reports indicate he will have a 5-year contract. Read more here.

South Florida: Charlie Strong is in Tampa today to talk with USF officials, according to 247Sports, which adds that Willie Taggart has contacted Strong about the Oregon defensive coordinator job.

Baylor: Temple defensive line coach Elijah Robinson and linebackers coach Mike Siravo will follow Matt Rhule to Baylor, according to the Waco Tribune. Robinson spent the past three years at Temple, while Siravo spent the past five in his second stint with the program. In addition, the Dallas Morning News reports San Antonio Reagan High School (TX) head coach David Wetzel will join the Baylor staff in an off-field role. Wetzel is the president of the Texas High School Coaches Association, he's a Baylor alumnus, and he's been at Reagan since 2004.

Northwestern State: Defensive coordinator Darryl Daye is leaving coaching, and safeties coach Adam Waugh has left the staff to pursue other coaching opportunities.
