Did Ohio st become the first team to punch their ticket last night sitting on the couch watching usc lose?

Couldn’t win their division and even play in their conference championship. Last game played was a 22 point home loss.

Now I guess you could say georgia was the first since they will be in no matter how badly they lose the SEC championship game.

Think about this, if TCU loses by 22 points in the B12 championship game for their only loss of the season they likely get dumped because a two loss Alabama and blown out Ohio st not having to play this extra game are perceived better. God I hate blue bloods.

I really don’t like that Ohio State got in sitting at home. USC should’ve taken the draft route and “opted out to prepare for the playoffs.”

Does anyone think that a physical Utah team wouldn’t beat a soft Ohio State team as well? These conference championship games can only eliminate a team from the playoffs and that is ridiculous.

It's worth noting that Utah lost to every other ranked team it played other than USC, which was clearly overrated. They seem physical in a sense because USC's offensive line sucks and because USC's defense is Charmin-soft and unwilling to tackle. At the end of the day, talent usually wins. If there were no opt-outs, I think OSU beats them 9 out of 10 times.

yeah it’s definitely a raw deal for a team sitting on the sideline getting moved up to the playoff because of another team playing an extra game and losing in their conference championship. Something just not right about that.

But this year, there literally is no worthy candidate to make the playoff other than OSU now that USC lost, by how bad they lost and it being a 2nd time to Utah.

All the more reason this should have always been at minimum an 8-team playoff with the 5 conference champions getting auto bids and then 3 at large.
