This is purely observational. We have two great freshman guards, but neither are natural distributors or facilitators. Lowe dribbles more than anyone I can remember. He is all over the place, and that keeps guys standing around and spacing is tight, or if they try to move, they don't know where to relocate. I often times see Hinson trying to relocate to get open, but he doesn't know where Lower is going with the ball. I wish we ran a little more motion and not all high picks for Lowe. We need to get the ball and players moving more consistently. One assist last night from a player with as much as he has the ball is inexcusable.
Bub is really like a Demar Derozan. I don't see court awareness from him except for the times he drives and kicks out when there is nothing there. But he can't or doesn't break down defenses well and also doesn't set up players for good looks. Just a pull shooter for the most part.
I think both will get better, but neither is really a traditional point guard by any means. I think that largely was a factor in Hinson not getting a shot in the last 13 minutes of the game, and it is a problem. Now, with that being said, I do not want James Robinson. Give me a Tray Woodall type of player.
