Congrats on your season

I wanted to stop by and say congrats on your season. I give Narduzzi mad props for getting your team up and ready for big games, especially the Penn State and Clemson games. Hopefully your bowl goes well. See you guys at our house in September!

Thanks. Penn St also had a great season, and finished strong. Props to your team and staff. Next season will be interesting again for both teams, and it should be a great game.

Looking forward to it and want Penn State at its Best, because one cannot be the Best unless you play and beat the Best!

Competition Banter is a big part of College Football but Sportsmanship Respect makes it even better!

I watched and listened to more Pitt, Penn State, and Wvu games since 1970s. It is pure joy and when you see those Player's Playing their Hearts out, it is even better and easier to Respect all 3 Programs!

One starts out in hopes the other loses big time, but when you see Penn State beat Ohio State, Iowa, and Wisconsin the way they did, and Pitt beating Clemson, Georgia Tech, and setting a record with Syracuse their way, with WVU knocking off TCU, Baylor, and BYU, it is easy to admire such Wins, and be back in the Top 25 again for Pitt, Top 15 For WVU and Top 5 for PSU too due to "Trace The Ace"!!!

Salute To All Three To Stay In Top 25 By Winning Their Bowls!!!

McSorley is the real deal. What moxie that kid shows. A great finish for Penn State's improbable tun. I don't care what the "championship" criteria are, I think you ought to be a conference champion to play in the final four. Pasadena isn't a bad consolation prize.

I really think that as good as Barkley is, McSorley should have been the big ten offensive player of the year. The start at Pitt was only his 2nd start in the new system. He really grew as a player the last couple of months and still has 2 years of eligibility. I think the kids deserved to play in the final four, but a 4th place ranking and a matchup with Alabama might not have been pretty (I don't think washington will fair too well either). I am happy with the Rose Bowl.

It's amazing what a difference new OCs can make at their respective schools when they bring innovative play calling and a willingness to adapt to the available players. Both Moorhead and Canada did an excellent job of this, and have only gotten better as the season progressed.

I appreciate non-arrogant, non-obnoxious PSU fans

Every fan base has both types of fans. i think this is the first thread that over here that I have been part of where I wasn't called a pedophile enabler. I love talking football with people and have in-laws who are Pitt fans and alumni. It can get spirited without getting nasty. That's the fun of college football.

Oh yeah, I can agree with this. I will sometimes cringe at comments Pitt fans make at PSU fans like you may do the same for PSU fans at Pitt.

We tend to see the worst of fans on these message boards and Twitter. But can see good things too on occasion.

The whole "we beat you head to head" vs. "we had a better season" thing will go on through September though for sure.

Love the kid's TD routine... the fungo swing and the salute. Baby faced assassin. This is not your legendary head coach's offense.

I agree. When I was looking at the big ten championship game with Wisconsin, I thought Wisconsin looked like our teams of old. Big running back that grinds time off the clock and a stout defense. I thought it favored us because we used to lose to teams with our offense. If the team can clean up the early mistakes and play a complete game then we set up really well for next year. Even earlier in the season with the Pitt game, we looked helpless in the first half before making adjustments. I am somewhat concerned about the USC game. They have a ton of really talented players. Our guys know how to win though. Should be a good game.

I love talking football with PSU fans as well although I do get upset when they make false claims. If you look at the nasty remarks , they always start with a troll's comments. Your offense can put up points but your defense gives up many.....sound familiar?

Spot on. I can objectively talk about them and what I think of them as an actual football team, as much as I can't even stand the sight of that logo. But I will not let it end when trolls come on here spewing garbage.

GoPennState97 and Nittany97 (I think that's his name) id welcome here anytime to talk football. Reasonable posters just like many of my PSU friends that can talk about them without having to mention the holiness of PSU in every sentence.

Yup. Our defense seems to play better in the second half of games, just like our offense. I guess one leads to the other. Once the offense starts sustaining drives and not giving up field position it makes sense the defense plays better.

I really thought you guys would have a better defense with Narduzzi as coach.

"GoPennState97, post: 1698864, member: 7995"]I really think that as good as Barkley is, McSorley should have been the big ten offensive player of the year.
Quite agree, Barkley was more of Decoy Threat due his great moves, but the 2nd Half Comebacks came from Gesicki, Blackwell, Godwin, Hamilton Big Catches from Trace The Ace. McSorley took big hits early in the games and came back making just the right calls and executing them to perfection.

In addition, once "Trace The Ace" was bringing Penn State back, the Penn State Defense took over too. Once PSU got the lead "Penn State DC Nittany Pry's" secure Wins against Indiana, OSU, & Wisconsin.

I would have had Trace The Ace & James Conner in the Final Heisman mix too.

Quite accurate, and I credit one person Franklin, that did not make him a safety and said he won 55-5 Games and Moorhead taught him far faster than anyone because "Trace The Ace" knows how to run his system! Franklin was smart enough to see last year he needed a cahnge at OC and looked at his Players and got a New OC & OLC to make "Trace The Ace" whose Face exudes confidence and determination and toughness beyond his years.

I think the kids deserved to play in the final four, but a 4th place ranking and a matchup with Alabama might not have been pretty (I don't think washington will fair too well either).
I agree and posted PSU deserved the Bid over OSU, but others can differ. USC smashed Washington.

I am happy with the Rose Bowl.
The Two Hottest teams in CFB are USC & PSU, what a match up! I follow both Programs and went to two USC games! Going to be at Stanford from 14th to 28th, might head to LA, not sure right now, invited by USC Friends!

Barkley was really hindered when the two starting tackles were lost for the season. He runs best when he can bounce off tackle. I like his receiving ability as well. Do you think Conner will come back?

HCPN did not have athletic enough LBs to run his defense and once Hendrix and Maddox went down it was too much to overcome. We have some young LBs who are trying to put on weight and should be much better next year with more depth. I do like the talent and moxy of McSorely as well as your LBs and DBs!

Looking forward to Sep '17

I have put up posts on Conner possible comeback, but I don't speculate on that, I leave that up to Players and many Posters weigh in and let them speculate or say otherwise.

There are a few Rules I follow, I don't second guess recruits, trash players, and won't attack any Recruit that chooses another school, or a Player that makes mistakes, I sometime relay what others say, but why mess on 18-22 Olds? I see no upside in talking down recruits or players.

At the same time, I leave that to other Posters that do it on Lair and BWI, if they want to do it, so be it, it is Free Speech.

Now I do want Conner Back but that is on him and so be it too.

On Barkley, you are spot on, but once Miles joins him next year, watch out, it will be Mr. inside and Mr. Outside and McSorley in between.

Barkley runs like Barry Sanders, Miles runs like Shady McCoy!

Sigh... We all did. The hope lies in all the young dudes he recruited maturing into next season and some of the RS making a mark. Kind of like how PSU's O was horrid under Franklin until this season. I'm wondering if the same could happen with the Pitt D.

PSU next year will be talented, experienced, with incredible depth. You will be favored against
us in the game at PSU. We lose some very good players, but things are on the upswing here too.
Is it enough to win up there?...probably not, but in a game like this, anything's possible.
One thing though, if you don't beat us, expect the same snub from the playoff committee due to
your terrible out of conference schedule. You play Akron and Georgia St along with us. 2018 it's
Pitt, Appalacchian St, and Kent St. Many of your ridiculous posters on BWI believe it should be
even EASIER than that....the thinking being that PSU would be better off against three cupcakes.
OSU made it in because of a win over Oklahoma. Meanwhile Pitt goes against PSU and
Oklahoma St. This is a perfect example of how Pitt and PSU fans see a situation like this
through their own very different bias. The morons on both boards then typically turn something like this into a war of words. Good luck in your Rose Bowl win, and for the record, a Big Ten championship, and head to head against OSU should have, IMO put you into the playoff. PSU
better realize that thinking like mine doesn't agree with how the committee views your weak schedule.
BTW....you seem like a rational poster and it's good to have a thread like this.

Ill chime in. Rooted for PSU in Big Ten championship. Didn't think Wisky could score on you. Like the QB.
Now, I'll hate PSU again when the time comes. But that will be in September and I'm going to enjoy beating the defending Rose Bowl champs on their own field.

I think there's a strong possibility with us starting a new qb, we lose at PSU next year and have the better the season (exact opposite of this season.) if that's the case, it'll be funny to see how quickly nitters opinions change on that.

It is a very strong possibility that this could occur, given that Zaire may end up in Chapel Hill next year. Obviously, all bets are off should he decide that PITT is the better fit. For this reason, I'm hoping Trubisky comes back next year for UNC which persuades Zaire to come to PITT.
