We are not in the B1G because PSU was already in and they wanted teams in states not already represented in order to expand the network footprint. In every other way we would have been a far better fit than Rutgers and Maryland. Not to mention that Paterno wanted no part of us being invited. But look at it this way, you now have two patsies in your division to beat up on every year. Well, three if you count PSU.

we aren't in the big 10 because of joe paterno and penn st, simple as that. they have always feared pitt and blocked our entry into the league. add to that penn st is trash!

I never liked Joe Pa. Never, even before all the "stuff". Always thought he was a selfish, arrogant prickly you know what masquerading as this gentle old guy. He wasn't a simple, little old guy. He was an S.O.B. from day one.
I'm not surprised that he wasn't in favor of having Pitt in the B1G, but since he was the newest guy on the block, how come he had so much say?
If it had been up to me, I'd have taken you guys and Mizzou instead of Maryland and Rutgers. But, in the end, it was the $$$$. NY/NJ (but I live in CT and nobody, but nobody in the tri state area cares about Rutgers) and Wsh/Balt TV markets were worth more than Western Pa and Central Missouri.

GLTU guys. Yeah, I'm sure it will be awhile before Dantonio leaves (this S. Carolina talk after Spurrier's resigning is all talk...MD ain't going to S.C.) and they look for a new coach. I'm sure PN would be very high on their list, but by that time I suspect Narduzzi will either be so entrenched at Pitt that he won't want to leave...or he's picked off by someone even bigger. I doubt Narduzzi would ever consider coaching in the B1G unless it were MSU. He's got Midwestern/eastern roots so I'd suspect he loves Pitt (he was the perfect hire for both you and him)....but the NFL....Steelers???? Narduzzi is good enough to coach there even as he might not have quite the demeanor for it. The NFL looks for guys who are a little less tightly wrapped who can really coach. Narduzzi is certainly the latter...but not so much the former. I love him and miss him.

Always love beating Penn State. We get them at home this year. Hackenbushwhateverhisnameis...is the most overrated QB in college football. He's never done a thing against us.

And yes, that OSU game will be for all the marbles. We can't ignore Iowa however.

Thanks for the kind words! I actually think Pitt is a much better fit for the ACC - perhaps not geographically per se (although we fit in there well too), but we're a much smaller, research based school than the very large land grant Universities in the B1G. I also really like the exposure that we have in the South East. (Plus the away game locations are pretty darn nice in the late fall).

I have always been an MSU fan along with Iowa. Wishing you guys the best of luck going forward, most especially against PSU, although you won't need much because they are not very good at all and Franklin has never won any big games dating back to his HC tenure at Vandy.

Hart actually said the other day, after the UM loss, that he wishes the "Little Brother" comment would go away. Put it to bed. Sadly, for him, it will probably live on for eternity. It encapsulates UMs historical condescension that will never go away. It definitely says more about UM than MSU.

Loved watching the defense under Narduzzi. Always looked forward to watching Le' Veon Bell run when he was on the team. He was the one RB I wanted the Steelers to draft. I was ecstatic when they called his name in the 2nd round.
