Congrats to Andy Lee for moving into top 10

in history in punting yardage. He is only 2000 yards back from cracking the top 5 too.

I know... only punting, but yet another Panther in the top 10 in history of a catagory.
"Only punting". You have to be damn good to be employed in the NFL that long. Dozens and dozens of punters come and go every year trying to get a gig in the NFL.

Better to succeed than to fail. Would be great to have him help our Ps out being that so much of that world is outside instruction and not something the coaching staff can really affect.

I've never understood the resistance to include punters in the NFL Hall of Fame. If you are one of the best to ever play your position, you should be in the HOF, regardless of what position that is.

Hard to believe he has been in the NFL for that long and is still only 34. I didn't know he was punting for us as far back as 2000...he actually pre-dates Heinz Field.

If he stays healthy, he could have five more season in him...and end up an all time best in the top 3 or 4...that's pretty impressive. I loved it a few years back when Revis, Fitz, McCoy, and Andy were all at the top of their games and pretty much the best at their positions...not too shabby to have the best players in the NFL in four different positions all be from lil'ol Pitt. HTP!

He's on a short list for greatest of all time. Don't know where that will take him, but yes punters should be included in the Hall like anyone else. As long as they actually deserve to be in based on having a remarkably good career.

There are a number of great punters high up on the list. But Andy could certainly be in the discussion if he plays another 5-6 years. He probably ends up in the top 3 for total yards and top 10 for yards per punt. Right now I'd have to think Shane Lechler is getting in and Andy projects to have similar stats if he keeps going strong.

With all due respect to Mr. DeLamielleure, I'd much rather have a Pro Bowl right guard than a Pro Bowl punter.

And if you were going to have a poor player at one position or the other you'd clearly rather have a poor punter than a poor right guard. Or at least you would if you had any sense.

Very true but only one stands above the rest. Ray Guy.

Good point... I certainly didnt mean the negative slant. Heading off the anti pitt crowd of badby and pitt79 with that comment I guess.
