On D it appears Duzz tends to keep things fairly basic and they focus on execution.

Yet they hire blow hard Frank who Duzz bragged about having a scheme that is far more complex that Ups

Seems like at the college level you don’t want to overly complicate things because you don’t have the time for kids to learn overly complex systems. So why would you hire an OC whose system is overly complex Especialy with a young qb who has little experience Why wouldn’t you want a similar approach to offense as you have on defense b

Am I missing something ?

To play the devil's advocate..... Charlie Weis when hired at Notre Dame said that they would have a schematic advantage on offense against every other team moving forward.

That did not turn out well for ND, but maybe it sounded good when Narduzzi heard it from Cignetti?

Agree 80. Basic but aggressive on D. Beside a few exotic blitzes from time to time they keep it simple and let guys attack.

On O a guy like Bub has clear physical talent but prob not the highest FB IQ doesn’t get the O, he/team struggle. CV has the arm may lack the IQ as well. Besides talent…most of these high scoring teams keep it fairly simple. Like 2 reads for the QB then take off running.

You can have the best plays in the world but if the players aren’t on the same page or are overthinking it doesn’t matter.
