Cool. We've reached epic lazy journalism.

None...but you have to get the clicks. I mean if he wanted to do a comparison of the volleyball teams, at least that's in the same ballpark

The funny thing is that the only mention at all of the Penn State volleyball team was one throw away line.

And by funny I don't mean "ha ha" funny, I mean "that's really weird" funny.

Jason Mackey in the post gazette has an article comparing Penn State football to Pitt volleyball.
If you read the article, he is making the comparison based on the fact that Pitt has now made 4 final fours and is looking for its first championship, while PSU has had the reputation under Franklin for not wining the big games. Both teams now have the opportunity to change that narrative. Is that somehow not accurate?

Because Pittsburgh media always has to make these pitt and Penn State comparisons and this one is just stupid because it's not the same sport. It's laziness at the highest level. It's the classic, "pitt football beats (insert team name) but only draws 45000 fans" headlines. It's stale and lazy.

The difference being, of course, that Pitt makes the Final Four but doesn't win the championship, whereas Penn State has never made the Final Four, all their "big" losses are in the regular season.

Which seems like a pretty substantial difference.

I don’t think it’s lazy at all. In fact, do you realize how much effort has to go into dreaming up such an editorial?

But they have the chance to make it this year. Gee, its just a column about 2 teams with lots of local interest, who have a chance to overcome past disappointments to reach the top. I don't get the outrage.

It's not accurate at all. Pitt volleyball has won plenty of big games. It's a slap in the face to compare them to PSU football.

Part 2 hits tomorrow comparing this Penn State team to the 85 Bears. The way this team played against Maryland, Purdue, Washington, and Minnesota is simply magical. They have taken on the big boys of college football and beat them all.

Actually a good comparison if you are saying the patriots of 85 are the equivalent of state penns schedule

I'm certainly not outraged. If anything I find it kind of amusing that someone went so far to try to find some sort of connection so that they could write a column and failed pretty miserably, when if you wanted to write something about both in the same story you could have just done that and dispensed with trying to pretend that the two teams are in similar situations.
