On way home last evening we were discussing how good Pitt played and why the big difference from game to game. I wonder if it is as simple as shooting. We looked good last night and the reason might be the ball went in the hoop.Funny if that is going to be shoot good win, shoot not so good lose.

As Zeise said on the radio last week...maybe Pitt just needs to go UNLV on everyone and see what happens. You'll lose your share when you don't shoot well. But maybe you have a better chance at winning more games that way.

Old Pitt was consistent--defense usually is. New Pitt relies on shooting, sometimes shooting is cold.

When Pitt shoots well - they look good. I would only add though they are passing and playing with unselfish purpose in those games too (assists are within 4 or 5 of equal to FGs). When they shoot band - NCST, FLA ST, CLEM - they look abysmal. I don't have any stats in front of me, but I feel that the back court shooting in the losses has been very poor, and quite the opposite in wins (even though they may not be scoring a ton, they are making what they are taking). I wish the defense played better in the half court over all, but the shooting in losses has been so painful to watch. I feel that previous Pitt teams found a way to grind through bad shooting nights through playing tremendous defense and getting just enough offense to steal wins.

Exactly what I posted last week. This team has to shoot it at least decently to avoid getting behind big like against Louisville and NCState. They are not built like the BE Panthers when they could survive poor shooting stretches by bludgeoning teams into submission on the defensive end.

Yes. It is that simple. Back before the ND game, I said neither team can defend, so whoever shoots better will win. Pitt cant defend at all. If they shoot well, they can beat anybody, if they dont shoot well, we can lose to anybody

Example: if we shoot well today, we can beat UVa 72-56. If we dont, we can lose 64-45.
