Pitt offense played their best first half of the season vs Louisville today.
Pitt offense may have played their worst 2nd half today.
For as harrowing at it might have seemed in the 2nd half, the PITT D only yielded 10 points.
The play of the game could have been the QO run on third down during the 2nd half fg drive right behind #84 Conner Dintino the converted DT now turned "jumbo" full back. The play went right up the middle and the blockers generated a nice "parting of the sea" so to speak. It was all academic from there.
Nice to see some fairly deep passes attempted and completed today. The two in particular that I am thinking of resulted in passing touchdowns----Boyd and Ford. Both occurred in the crazy 2nd quarter.
The Boyd touchdown pass play was the first and only play of that offensive drive!
I know that Nate Peterman was named the games MVP but a strong case could have been made for Fullback George Aston. What a nice find he was by the previous staff. He can do a little bit of everything.
Inserting Boyd and/or Whitehead in the backfield has made this team harder to defend. When was the last time Pitt fans felt like that about the PITT offense ? (I admit probably not all that long ago.)
Hats off to EJuan Price of course for that bad ass effort. Freeze had his moments, too. They both caused fumbles, I believe. Unfortunately, PITT was not able to recover them.
Maddox with the pick SIX! Another candidate for play of the game.
Maddox with a bad decision on a punt return and then flagged for a face mask---not so smart.
Maddox flagged for personal foul on the sideline hit --- even worse ---although probably not as blatant as it first appeared. Gotta play a little smarter for 60 minutes.
Punts were hit or miss. Some decent ones marred by a few other attempts leaving a lot to be desired.
Q Wirginis almost came down with another blocked punt. He was shaken up on the attempt but I love that kids aggressiveness.
The back up UofL QB was fast and hard to tackle at times. However, in the end he is still a freshman and the fighting Narduzzi's caught up to him.
Let it all out on the field next FRIDAY!
