I heard on the radio that Senator Cassidy of LA has proposed a federal registry for those who can prove they had and are recovered from Covid 19. Anyone on the registry would be able to return to work.

    This sounds reasonable. Any thoughts?

Why just people who had and recovered from Corona Virus and why not those who test negative.
    They have to work too.

Not sure, but I think if you had it, you cant infect others

I would agree its a good idea if scientists agree that they cannot become infected again or be carriers. Not sure we know enough about it yet.

Double edge sword in my opinion. I get the intent, but health crisis aside...that is where we are crossing over into civil liberties issue.
I’m currently working and deemed essential, , not infected...so how does that play in?

Also many people infected and have not gone to the doctor I am sure. Also how many has something else like the flu, misdiagnosed and the doctor signs off on it. There would have to be antibodies test given to confirm if this is the ultimate route... sounds like a big clusterf@*ck.

Like with any other difficult situation some Risk will have to be taken and people will have to go back to work sooner rather than later.

A 0.0 no Corona Virus case scenario isn't possible.

When it comes to risk 0.0 is a theoretical goal not a practical one.

Life is full of risks and this is just another one that will have to be managed.

We can’t even self isolate in this country...even in New York and now they want to register you? Most Americans won’t stand for it, even if it means bread lines. This is the opening of the Pandora’s Box.

    Ha
    We can’t even register guns-
Yet people are going to submit to a blood test to show they have immunity ?

yep - I don’t see any qualms with that

    On a practical side-
First we’d have to identify the antibodies associated with immunity - simply recovering doesn’t imply immunity - the Wuhan data shows it doesn’t .

then it’s certainly possible - but as noted , it would be a serology test - and having a national registry of people’s dna - well / color me skeptical

What I want to know is who will manufacture the vaccine once developed and will our senators know before we do? Because I want to invest! My whole life I’ve been chasing and wanting to put my name on the one thing that every human wants and needs every year.

Ya mean who buys the patent after an academic center develops it.

hopefully - much like Salk and polio - our government doesn’t allow profit seeking to interfere with the public good

Yesterday fauci referenced a leader in the vaccine development with others behind them. Do we know who that is?

Google J&J. It really pushed the market up yesterday and has been a strong producer for a while for me. Could be them also. Strong news yesterday on vaccine
Look at the 5 year gain and is performing better than all the averages during this.
I've had it since around right after 9/11. Got in relatively cheap.
Might be who he's referring to.
It's made a fortune. It's tripled with numerous splits.

A negative test doesn’t prevent you from being infected and spreading it.

No doubt that the testing would have to be thorough and effective. But many people would go through the process to get back to work. It’s a choice.

“They” don’t want to register you. It would be your choice. If you want to go back to work you can.

J&J was awarded a contract to produce 1 billion vaccines after fast tracking a clinical trial. That’s from my memory from an article I read yesterday.

True but this cant go on forever, or until the virus is completely gone.

It is becoming a circle jerk with a really small circle and Fauci in the middle.

As I said some Risk must be taken as we begin to open the economy soon.

I get that... in my opinion it would be a pretty hard choice for some to swallow. Just by nature, we are a defiant society... partly why we re in this mess to begin with.

Its a good idea. They also need to start doing blood tests to see who has had it and didnt know.

On February 20th i had a horrible upper respiratory infection, went to drs and was tested for flu which was negative. Was given zpack and prednisone. Buddy and his wife were also sick turns out their daughter had just returned from California. Did we all have it or just a nasty cold? No one knows.

The only way to know is start testing everyone, pretty much all the experts are saying that a lot more people jave had it than have been counted.

Forgetting the registry issue for a moment, they have been talking about using plasma from those that have recovered to help the sick. That also requires a test and recording. And it helps us through this mess.

You know the more I hear this similar scenario the more I'm beginning to believe this may very well be the case . Someone posted another thread on this . Meanwhile I have a coworker in the cube next to me who's had a hacking dry cough for the last month ... Great .

And if you are not on the registry? How is it enforced? Who has access to it?

Terrible idea, unless you don't value any privacy. It sounds like registering gun owners.

I don't see how this can be easily implemented. Who is checking the registary? Are there checkpoints on the roads where you have to provide name and ID and some cop runs your name and gives you a pass or sends you off to quarantine if your name isn't on it?
Why is this better than a doctor's note

    The details are the point

research orgs could easily do this
But - no effin way people would do it , nor should it be asked .

Are you okay with testing immunity to other diseases , to demonstrate vaccination status for other public and private jobs-schools ?

The details are the point, just as I said. I never would do it for the government. I would go to my Dr, give him a sample, and he could mail me a certificate showing my passing grade - A+ I'm sure.

Re your last question, the answer is no. They are not even in the same universe as Covid-19 and the current situation.
