I want to start with this caveat. I'm not saying CV will turn into Pickett. I'm not even saying he will turn into a legit starter...or a starter at all. But I had a thought last night. If CV didn't play at all until the Louisville game and that was the last one of the year, how great would we be feeling now? It's easy to forget that Pickett didn't turn into first round draft pick Pickett until his final year.
Now, he's not even at the level that Pickett was at as a true soph when he threw for 1,900 yards, 12/6 TD/INT and 58% completions percentage over 14 games. CV has played in 7 games so, doubling his stats for the year (again, I know this isn't how this works) you are looking at 2,300 passing yards, 14/16 TD/INT ration, 51% passing.
I also want to note, and this probably deserves its own post about Cignetti, but the first play of the game, we throw a WR screen get 8 yards...never run it again.
Now we also need to note that CV almost got 2 of our guys killed throwing to open men who were waiting to be lit up. I don't think he's the guy and I do believe we should bring in someone to compete but he still COULD be the guy and I'm not ready to write him off yet.
