Dante Cephas Mention

I'm no expert either, but I'm just thinking he doesn't need to transfer as a senior in line to graduate. Can't he transfer in as whatever (lets just say Sophomore), and then need X number of credits to graduate? Maybe you can't do that and be eligible, no idea. He surely has enough to fulfill whatever the minimum number is he needs to transfer in. Maybe Colby Young couldn't coming from JUCO or wherever.

I would have to think no one would have ever been academically ineligible if you could do that. You could almost just show up, do nothing, and forever be an academic freshman. I know you have five years to play four (Covid year not withstanding), but I'm fairly sure you also have to have graduated to get that 5th year... so I assume it applies to every other year as well.

I mean, it sounds pretty difficult to not maintain academic eligibility, though. Like, you almost have to go out of your way to denounce any and all schoolwork, by the sounds of it.

Well the football teams can't have everyone being academic freshman indefinitely, because you have to graduate or else there are APR issues and the program will get dinged for scholarships. But I do not think you have to graduate to get that 5th year.

I've always thought you needed X amount of credits per year, and that's why some guys have to squeeze in some summer school to be eligible for the upcoming season. I just assume that if you're keeping up with those requirements, it will include having graduated after 4 years. Some guys graduate way sooner than that.

Where will he be playing in 2023? That’s the question.
Everything is pointing to Pitt or Penn State but his recruiting process will be put on hold because he will not be able to have any contact with any coaches during the spring semester.

Cephas is at a big disadvantage transferring anywhere after the spring semester. Programs aren't going to sit around and wait and make sure he passes all of his courses, plus missing spring practice is a definite minus as well. I don't know where he will end up, but he'll end up making compromises one way or another.

You're not wrong!! I guess if he is good enough Pitt might leave the light on for him but I doubt it.

Not surprised. The next time Pete Thamel is right will be the first time.

This guy had the scoop in the middle of December.....

After watching Konata Mumpfield struggle this year, I'd rather have a kid with Power 5 experience. Give me the WR from Florida...

Daejon Reynolds was the most notable asset for the Gators as he posted a career-day with his contributions through the air. Accounting for eight receptions, 165 yards and two scores — including a 74-yard post route that he took for the Gators to cut into the Commodores' largest lead of the day.
