Same here. Was a big fan of the kid at Pitt. Has the physical tools. Sometimes you just have to get a lucky break (injuries to others). Hopefully he gets a chance.
Hopefully he is an insurance policy only. I hope the kid shines if he gets a chance, but he has been cut by 3 organizations now. The odds that they all missed on their evaluation isn't very good.
No offense to Darrin (and I hope he does well), but the fact that he was signed by the Steelers at this point shows they have concerns about the availability of their roster guys for this coming Sunday. Think there's a good chance you're going to see more jet sweeps, screens and touch pass plays this Sunday.
I always thought his propensity to make the perfect cut and get a big gainer was more than just luck.

That was something dumb that you just said. Hoping Darin Hall makes the Steelers squad (ie success) and sticking around has nothing to do with James Conner.

Well you jumped over the part where I said "I hope the kid shines if he gets a chance" in your rush to make some irrational fanboy post. But please tell me what is stupid about hoping that Conner is healthy and that they don't need to give much playing time to Hall who has been cut by three teams? Feel free to quote Mr. Deeds or the Waterboy if it helps.
Hall shows how competitive the RB position is. I may get crushed for this, but I dont think there is a great difference between Conner, Ollison, and Hall. Yet, one is an NFL starter, one will be an NFL backup a long time, and one will never make it. Its why I wouldn't invest $$$ in a RB. I dont think the Steelers record would be any different if Hall was their feature back all season.
Last Sunday, I was actually hoping Hall would play, and instead the Steelers gave some little guy, #40 with a hyphenated name a carry for zero yards?
He was just re-signed to the practice squad again.
