Narduzzi is regarded as the guru, but the job his defensive assistants have done is incredible. Charlie Partridge has developed the defensive line into one of the best in the country after losing 2 of their best linemen. The work he has done with Habakkuk Baldonado alone seems unreal. This is only his 3rd season of organized football and he has 3.5 sacks and 23 tackles.
Harley has been great with the linebackers after losing 4 seniors to graduation. The addition of Kylan Johnson has helped immensely, but he has done a nice job of developing Bright, Brightwell and Campbell while Pine has seen limited action due to injury.
Archie Collins and Cory Sanders deserve a lot of credit for bringing the talent out of the secondary. These are the toughest cover guys I have seen since the days of Revis and finally making tackles in the open field.
Finally, Randy Bates. Does anyone remember Josh Conklin? Perhaps it is the talent that has finally matured, but wouldn’t it be nice to give this guy some credit with the way the defense has performed. It doesn’t always have to go to Narduzzi. He has been solid calling the defensive schemes for the last 2 years while the offense tries to figure out what they are doing. Apart from a couple of disasters, they have been in just about every game.
Hopefully Narduzzi can keep this group together for the long haul. It would be nice if the offensive coaches can get out and recruit talent like these guys and develop them like these guys have. I think the additions of Whipple and Beatty will benefit the offense. Powell has a proven track record with the RBs over the last 5 yrs. Salem is crazy and the tight ends need to learn how to catch. Not sure I like his style. Borbely should maybe consider retiring after the performance of the O-line this year.
