I'm going to assume that the Tennessee transfer (Hendrix?) is guaranteed to start. He was a blue-chip recruit and played as a true frosh at Tennessee and we've only heard good reports on him while he has been on the scout team.

What's the deal with Allen Edwards? Usually, JUCOs are recruited to come in and play but he redshirted which, considering how thin we were at that position, is strange. If he could play, you would figure he would have. However, I've heard a few different podcasts talk about Edwards in very positive terms. But if he was so good, why RS?

If Edwards is as good as advertised, does Price move to linebacker? We are very thin in depth and talent at LB. If Price has any chance at the next level, it has to be at LB.

My understanding is that Edwards, while athletic, was quite raw. That he could have contributed, but that the program would be better served with him redshirting that year.

DE seems solid. LB and DT worry me however.
LB's could be an issue.
All good D's start with great LB's.
Great D's have really good DT's and great LB's.
We need some speed and size at the LB position!
Recruiting looks good but LB's need a few years to work in!

I would agree that LB is a bigger concern. If Price were to move to LB'r is he fast/quick enough to
play the position? If he is, there are numbers at DE with Hendrix and Edwards along with past
starters, Soto and Blair.
Caprara, while a great worker, and apparently savvy, is not IMO an
ACC level starter. If Price were to move to LB'r and one of the redshirts from last year were to
win a starting role then we might be at least passable. Galambos, Bradley, and Caprara make
a weak unit.
As for the DT's there are again numbers but aside from Jarrett, I'm not so sure who and how good?

I am curious if there is thought Hendrix puts on some weight from his listed 275( I believe) and moves inside. He could make a huge impact there also.

Price is a DE. Don't look at his size. His skill set is very much set as a college DE, regardless of size.

The MLB position is very weak with Galambos there. Unfortunately, our touted younger guys are outside guys.
Cap and Bam struggled at times on the outside, but they have to at least improve a tad. McKee and Brightwell have bright futures as their backups and could easily surpass them.

Hendrix is the Sheard-type DE this team has lacked for several years. Extremely athletic and powerful, he is going to be a handful coming off and setting the edge.

Imagine forcing plays to the middle of the field rather than plays bouncing to the outside!

Wirginis could come on at MLB, now that he's gotten some experience and once he gets to go thru spring ball and another fall camp. He could be a big-time hitter if he can get comfortable enough to play aggressively.

I don't think Price is fast enough to play LB - I'd question him covering the ground he'd need to cover. Need those red-shirt LB guys -- as well as Bam -- to step up...

Go Pitt.

You don't move a pass rushing blue chip player like Edwards move inside and play a position he just isn't because we lack a true playmaker, that's a recipe for disaster and you waste his talent

Price is a guaranteed starter at one DE. Presumably Hemdrix will be the other. Look for Edwards to be a pass rush specialist. The coaches said on numerous occasions that they loved his athleticism but that the light hadn't come on yet for him-he had a lot to learn. I'm sure that meant he had no technique and had to learn his responsibilities within our scheme.

People don't seem to understand how nuanced football is and how much more to it there is than raw atnletic ability. That's why a Jester Weah can't get on the field for a receiver starved team despite being an atnletic freak.

the next person that says Price back to LB I am reaching through the computer screen and punching them in the face
LOL, that is funny. I actually wanted him to move to a LB for years but have finally agreed that we passed the "point of no return" with position switches with him. I will not give up my "Folston to LB... again" agenda though..

I'm also fairly certain Price will be back. Price and Hendrix sounds logical right now and I think that will be a great DE tandem. DT is a little more concerning for me, possibly LB again this season.
