Did announcers mention #5 and 11 for PSU both had head injuries but coaches kept them in?

I only mention this because I was sitting next to a PSU fan on my visitor's side seats and we were close to PSU bench. I was having great football conversations about both teams with the fan and at the time, we both commented #5 looked like he got knocked cold and he was trying to come off the field but Franklin told him to stay in. The same kind of happened for #11 and # 30. Each time this happened I must have looked like Nostradamus to the fan because I pointed it out that they looked woozy and if our Offensive Coordinator saw it, he likely would call a play right at those players. That's exactly what happened and they got gashed for a big gain.

I haven't watched a replay, I had a few beers and also felt punchy from the heat but it was kind of weird moves by the PSU coaching staff at the time.

#11 had some injury at the goal line on a TD by Pitt that was reviewed and he didn't look the same.

I only mention this as Pitt sure seems to go beyond what's normal to protect ( and remove players for life threatening medical conditions through testing) when these had the appearance of disregard.

Again, saw it live, may not be as bad as my eye saw it, was explained on broadcast but it was curious that they were not removed for a play or a series.

If I'm wrong, I apologize.

By they way, what did we do to Joey Julius ( #99 big kicker) to get a 15 yarder? He looked shaken.

#5 is Wartman-White and at one point I thought he was in real trouble. he was slow getting up after three consecutive plays and looked very injured. He played a tough game - but man I couldn't believe they didn't give him a blow. I was sure he was gonna have to come out.

Hit him several seconds after the whistle blew. I mean just crushed him. I keep waiting for the people advocating a long suspension for the LSU player last week to come back and tell us all that Saleem Brightwell needs to be suspended for a long time for hitting a defenseless player well after the play was over.

I wonder why that hasn't happened yet?

You're kidding, right? Key differences between these 2 hits:

1) LSU guy was 350#. Guy he hit was less than 200#.
1a) Brightwell is 210#. Fat kicker is 260#.

2) LSU guy launched himself directly into target's head.
2a) Brightwell hit fat kicker shoulder-to-shoulder/back, never leaving the ground.

3) LSU guy targeted a player way after the play was over (literally didn't start running until after the play was dead), and target never saw him coming and was completely unable to protect himself or know he was about to get crushed in the head.
3a) Fat kicker was looking toward Brightwell the entire time and was able to protect himself (turned away from the hit before it happened). LINK

Yes, it was a late, dumb hit, but it in NO WAY resembled the LSU hit.

I posted something similar to that two week (In Postings Archives & Can Be Seen), that I was with a Penn State Grad whose Children went to PSU and bleed Blue & White.

Yet, he said how Franklin kept Hack in after limping in many games was an example of a coach that did not show he cared about his Players, and he volunteer that to me why he thinks Franklin is and will not be a Good Coach at PSU.

I never thought about that and goes to show when you talk to true Penn State Fans that think unlike some of the Cultists, it makes you become smarter then some PSU Fans just don't care to learn.

Most of what I post comes from PSU very smart PSU Fans on PSU and why my Long Ears are better than any blusters of flusters of hate by Dumb to Dumber Cultists that love State but have too many clouds in their coffee and cobwebs in the windmills of such minds!

No question Godwin & Hamilton hung in there playing great even hurt and misused in my opinion, and should not have chosen Penn State. Hack learned that too! Allen Robinson is far better in the NFL than he was at Penn State but he was coached by O'Brien! They are both Alums and love State but not sure they care for Franklin!

You made good observation I was told about 2 weeks ago and chastised by a PSU posters that called what i posted madness and i chose to agree to disagree with him over Franklin.

The PSU Alumnus may be wrong as told to me, but the trend is towards his view right now and I respect smart FBI Experts telling me what they observe on anything. Louie Freeh too but i never talked to him!

If one is going to post to share to learn you do learn by being corrected, if they ban other fans calling them flames and trolls, you end up like North Korea, Kooks with Nukes but won't last and will be ignored until Smarter Minds with truths to thinks about prevail!

It happen at USC-BAMA Game last week with a USC Player ejected, and again this week again with DT ejected yesterday and USC Fans agreed and accepted it!

Why I think Helton is a terrible Coach for USC and will not last long!

Pittt-pitt how much do you weigh????What was your weight when you played Dl football? Couldn't you just of said kicker instead of fat kicker?
Well, many on BWI use Spitt instead of Pitt too? Joey is a Kicker but looks like a DL & OL and he flatten a Kent State Returner last week with one hit on a Kick Off! Being called as big as a OL & DL is not actually too bad either and he has improved his Kicking this year and shows he is improving every game.

Kickers are usually used as a last resort to tackle a player buy Julius is not afraid to mix it right up and runs pretty fast for his size and speed. right now he ha splayed better than Pitt's Blewitt, as far as I can see it?

Someone knows some Football and thank you for sharing what you know for us to learn on the Lair.

Good post thank you!

Captain I was just kidding Pittt-pitt the kid is a "bit" overweight! Don't worry if I was the Pitts special team coach after watching last week's game I'd of had a little surprise for Julius when he came down the field!!!But the Pitt kid had a bit to much enthusiasm after the play, crapmhappens sometimes with 20 year olds?

He runs too far down field. Kicker is supposed to be safety man on kickoff coverage. Kicker wants to get in the action, I see no problem if someone on kick return blows him up.
Funny you mention this. The Nitters next to us on kickoffs were yelling " get him Joey/get him Joey." So I said to my wife Joey is the freakin kicker isn't he? So I guess hes a Nitter folk hero for his tackles so its open season on Joey.
Otherwise Joey hang back as a safety kind of player like kickers with a brain do!

He is a good kid, and got better from last year. It is not his Body it is his Play.

Agree!

Well, you are Coach you know some make mistakes the key is not to repeat them?

That link to the "hit"on the kicker is interesting. I missed the hit while at the game and only saw the Penn State player fall to the round. I figured it must have been a really vicious hit. Looking at that clip, Brightwell gives the guy a shove to the ground. Yes, it was after the whistle, but yikes. Even the Big 10 slanted article said the Pitt player "barreled into Julius..." As I said, YIKES.

The shove was late; the penalty was appropriate -- should be end of story...

Go Pitt.

Julius became a folk hero of sorts for smashing a ball carrier on a kickoff near the sideline last week.

I hope he gets decleted in every game from here on out.

Most kickers are the safety man, but I doubt Julius has the speed for that role . . . can you imagine him chasing someone who broke away?

No, no, I get it. For some people a player from another team hitting a guy intentionally well after the play is over is grounds for the death penalty. When a Pitt player hits another guy intentionally well after the play is over, well, come on now, boys will be boys.

5 played his heart out on D for PSU. Love his toughness.

Brightwood is 1/3 the size of that fat guy Al Julius. How can you suspend him.
