Did Pitt ruin PSU's season?

Kinda? This season is just gravy though. The next couple of years is going to be when they hit their stride. Exciting times for PSU AND Pitt!
Now you are talking Turkey are you not, and just goes shows better to play each other together, and it won't hurt either Program at all if we win or lose, just so Pitt Wins ACC Coastal and Penn State Wins Big Ten East, and WVU wins the Big-12!

i enjoy the contributions of Lair's MSU, Michigan, Bama, USC, Rutgers, Ohio State, WVU, Nebraska, Iowa, Penn State and all other Posters. But I prefer PITT seeing, playing and beating WVU, PSU in a NCS any day more than others.

Apparently not. Beat up on cupcakes and still ranked 12, us beating them didn't affect them at all if they're gonna win 10 games with losses to just Pitt and Michigan.

Nah. IF Ohio State winds up beating Michigan then we can say that, but right now, losing one game in week 2 does not ruin a potential 10-2 season.

Ohio State is nowhere as good as most teams that are usually ranked that high. I don't think they can stay within 17 of Michigan.

Michigan most likely wins big. But you never know what can happen in a rivalry game.

If PSU win had taken place in Columbus I might look at it differently but I do give them some credit. However they were never in the game against Michigan so let's no go overboard. We beat them and they have to live with that.

The Peds did beat the #2 tam in the country. The only Ped game I watched in years and I only watched the 4th quarter, sheesh. They are a different team now and most likely will end up top 10 unless they f up.

Listen, it's time to admit that Penny State is having a good season. If McSorley doesn't lob a pass into triple coverage, it's likely that we lose that game. They beat Ohio State in which they were a 20 point dog. Barkley is a no doubt first round talent who is one of the 3 best backs in America.

Franklin is a giant douche, but there is no doubt he's recruited his ass off and injected significant talent onto that team. If they win 10 games this year....and it probably happens, Franklin should get all the praise in the world. He would also be an attractive candidate in the CFB world. Would Texas, LSU, USC be interested? Maybe. All are significantly better jobs than Penn State.

I don't think Ped fans look at it that way. I'm pretty sure after they lost to us and got waxed by Harbaugh they expected another 6-6 7-5 season. I don't any of their fanbase was or is expecting to get into the playoff, I think they'll be content with a 9-10 win season. Expectations for their team next year will be pretty high - it would be nice to go up to Creepy Valley next year and ruin their season though...

looking forward to the day where we are no longer playing "spoilers" and the mediocre teams take delight in trying to ruin our great season..

The loss to to Pitt hurts and will linger with the fan base. No matter how PSU finishes this year, the Pitt game will bring about a lot of ......."what ifs". Finishing at say 10-2 would mitigate it somewhat, but not erase it.

I would be disappointed if PITT wasn't able to go up there and perform just as well against PSU. The only difference is now the coaching staff understands the importance of keeping the pressure on teams when you have the lead. For some reason, Canada and Narduzzi decided to go away from plays that had been working in the first half.

Let me rephrase my comments above. This year I don't think many PSU fans expected to be as "in the hunt" as they have turned out to be. Our win over them early in the season didn't seem as detrimental to PSU's program because there weren't very high expectations for them going into the season (we were favored if I remember correctly?) and we were coming into Narduzzi's second season after an 8-4 debut and returning a bunch of starters. I don't think many see us a "ruining" their season THIS year.

Whereas next season they'll most likely be a top 20ish team going into the season with hopes of winning the B10. We will most likely be losing a chunk of our Oline, LBs, Dline, and Conner. I would expect to be the underdog next year as the visiting team. If we were to win that game early in the season, many around both programs would look at it as if we "ruined" their season.

Agree completely with this. PITT will be more unknown vs. PSU who will return a bunch of players, but have some critical losses on the defensive side of the ball.

That could affect them dearly. It could be the difference between getting into the playoff and not getting into the playoff.

I don't think Michigan does win big and maybe the best example is this past weekend vs. MSU. There were times I thought it was going to blow right open, but Michigan only beat MSU by 9. I think UM is the better team, but I think it will be a close matchup.

It's sad that we keep posting about PSU.. Our fans worry more about them than Pitt
beating psu was instant gratification no doubt but really, a distant second in terms of importance as far as what we should want to accomplish. The UNC and of course the Va tech game sting way more than an OOC loss to Sandusky U.. And pitt fans that try to over value this game with recruiting, high school juniors and seniors could care less, they aren't going to decide on a school based on what school wins an OOC game, while they are in high school..

The main reason I wanted to win was to avoid the situation of some old guy wearing a psu jersey getting in my face on the walk back to the car. I'd have to punch him and his wife in the face, causing me to most likely get arrested and honestly, who wants that?

According to the BIG tiebreaker rules, Michigan would have to lose twice in order for PSU to get into the playoffs since Michigan won the head to head.

That's more of a statement of the type of person you are.. Someone with their priorities out of whack.. Another Sad statement to our fanbase

what? About prioritizing conference games over OOC games or about punching an old guy and his wife? you are out of your mind if you are questioning my first paragraph, the comment about the old guy and wife, well i'll give you that.

Truth be told, I'd probably get my ass kicked by the elderly couple..

Likely, but there are no rules for playoff bids. That only applies to the B1G CG.

If you were to tell PSU fans... pick your win, the other you lose between Pitt and OSU, I'm sure almost all of them would pick OSU.

The collective B1G is really bad this year. For the most part if you are an average top 40 team you have a cakewalk this year which in the mindless voters puts you in the top 25.

Exactly. They have some good teams don't get me wrong, as always the top is good. But look at Penn State, they might play the easiest schedule known to mankind the past 15 years. They are guaranteed 8 wins with 9 probably coming without much challenge.
