Did she say: just changing for change sake? Did I hear that right?

Well she is caught up in a quandary where she extended his contract and now the performance is not there and the buyout is a bit much to bite off. Transfer outs do not matter to me but the quality of the people coming into the program needs to rise considerably.

I will add that this staff does not seem to have the energy level to recruit at a high level. Recruiting takes time And requires time and energy especially when the program hasn’t had positive results in quite some time.

At this point, Capel really has no incentive to do much of anything except play everything squeaky clean and put forth a moderate effort. He knows he's cooked, and he doesn't want to be here. He'll just do everything by the books, collect his $17M, and live happily ever after. Our problems ain't his problems. Pretty crumby situation to be in for the fans.

I know she is just trying to talk around the question, but it's funny to see her say that it takes time to get the right people in place beyond the student-athletes when the staff has had zero change in 4 years. I guess it takes a lot of time to decide to keep the same assistant coaches every year. Maybe they have had trouble finding the right bus driver or something,

I noticed this as well.

How much time will it take to get the right people in place, if you keep the people that have failed for four years?

A lot of double talk to cut through in that clip.

I see why people defend HL for doing a great job. She said all of that with a straight face and without blushing, she would be a great candidate for any political office, IMO

It takes time to get the right people in place? It's basketball, get a good head coach, one great assistant whose expertise are opposite the HC/guards or Bigs, and a bunch of people to put cones out on the court, time the sessions in practice, put time on the clock to practice situations and that's about it. I know its not 1967 but what am I missing?

Why do any of you care what she says at this point? As soon as the decision is made that they can't afford the buyout, none of anything they say (until he is inevitably fired) will be honest or candid. Why do you think it would improve our situation at all for the AD to publicly trash her own HC?

The problem I'm having is with how disingenuous, lazy, and two-faced Capel is. He is willing to just play out next season without giving one ounce of effort (while putting on a scene like he is working hard and cares) while lying to everyone the whole time and giving us and the players a line of BS. He just doesn't care as long as he doesn't raise any red flags and is left alone. He has no recruits, I doubt he gets anyone with a pulse from the portal, and he will continue to lose players to transfer. If any of us were not doing our jobs in such a monumental manner at any time, we'd be fired on the spot. Capel gets a pass because of money.

And where are these big mouth, big money donors now? Why aren't they raising hell and demanding his immediate firing for incompetence? Why aren't they putting their money where their big mouths are? Are they afraid of something or are they just too stupid?

And again, I’ll ask why you expected anything different? If Capel is being retained, would you expect an AD to undercut any chance he has at landing players by publicly trashing him and saying he’s gone as soon as it’s affordable?

It sucks she extended him and we can’t afford the buyout. But this is exactly how she has to talk.

What coach in 12 months would want to take the job if she’s publicly trashing Capel while he’s employed?

Yeah. I mean, I know Gary has an axe to grind, but every AD in the country would handle this particular situation in the same way. It sucks, but it is what it is.
