Best overall game of the year by far
I was a huge fan of the Capel hire. Lately? Not so much. But there’s one thing you can almost always say...this team plays their rear ends off. I like that effort. I’m seeing some things.
Something else I’ve learned in all these years of watching college sports. There’s a lot to be said for stability. I know most believe you can build a program overnight especially in hoops and with the portal. But don’t underestimate sticking with someone even through rough (ok horrible) times.
That is fine as long as he brings in some good recruits and finishes the year strong. Time will tell.
I keep going back and forth with Capel. I look back at a couple of the performances earlier in the year and think it is best to move on. I then see the same team hang tough with Virginia, ND and Louisville and wonder what could have been if Sibande and Horton were on the team.
If there is any way he can get Mintz to commit and land another player or 2 then maybe you keep moving forward. There are many on this board that want to see him gone, but if this team somehow finds a way to win 4-5 more conference games then the decision may not be that easy.

Capel has to really get some players in the transfer portal. There is a growing belief among coaches
that the portal will be much more important than the HS kids.
We need some class balance as well. At least 2 high school/prep guys and 2 transfers.
I heard Capel say the exact same thing prior to a game last week. He pretty much said the rosters will change year to year. But saying that, Capel will need to land some talented high school players.
