TCU is basically a total rebuild at this point. They are currently one of the worst power 5 programs. Alum or not, does he really want that at this stage in his career? This is a guy that was at one point on a trajectory (and can still get there) for a blue-blood coaching job and he's going to go to TCU?
Here are some facts about TCU:
-Small, private school with a small fanbase in a football-focused state
-Haven't been in the tournament since 1998
-No real discernible basketball tradition
-An arena with a capacity of 8,500 (averaged 5K last year)
What's the upside there? He would basically have to start from scratch with the team and the fanbase.
Also keep in mind, although Dixon went to college in Texas, that was 30 years ago and he's never really recruited the state.
So like I said, Alum or not, does Dixon really want a complete rebuild at this stage in his career? He turns Pitt back in the right direction, he could easily be up for one of the blue-blood positions that could be coming open in the next few years (Duke, UNC, Louisville, UCLA etc.)
I just don't see it, I think he'd be crazy to do this.
