I know. Its a huge rivalry but the loss has done close to nothing to their CFP seed. They get an extra week off, a home game in the 1st Round, and their seed wouldn't be much different had they lost the to Oregon this week. Had they lost the B10CG, I dont think the committee gives them the 5 seed because the 5 easily beats the 4 seed and plays Oregon again. 3 Oregon/OSU games is too many. So they may have gotten a 6. As of now, they are probably a 6 or 7.

OSU fans want Day fired right now but they may win the whole thing. The loss could have been a blessing.

This may sound trite, but I still hope that the future of college sports will embrace the rivalries among the various programs. OSU v Michigan - FB / Duke v North Carolina - BB/ UGA v Florida - FB/ Alabama v Auburn - FB to name just a few

As to your point about the CFP situation, I seem to recall 'Bama being in a similar position when the CFP involved just 4 teams. 'Bama lost to LSU in the regular season and didn't have to play in the SEC championship game, but later came back and won the rematch en route to another NC in the playoffs

This year's CFP is all catawampus. After this weekend's championship games we'll be in a better position to know

I agree. The Ohio State - Michigan football game didn't matter to anyone at all. Just like, for example, a Duke - North Carolina basketball game, or a Stillers - Ravens football game. No games like that matter at all to anyone.

I think so. They go from probably the No. 5 seed with another close loss to Oregon and a matchup against the 12 seed. Instead, they will get a week of rest, but will probably have to a play a team like Tennessee followed by round 3 against Oregon rather than a team like Boise State.

What? Brawl? No! They were just out there playing patty cake because they all knew that the game was meaningless.

I can't believe how the media is completely misinterpreting such an innocuous event.
Maybe Pitt v WVU should change the name of the rivalry from "Backyard Brawl" to "Backyard Barbecue" ... and when the Mountaineers win we could all roast marshmallows over their burning couches
