After 9 years, I seriously wonder if Pat Narduzzi still has a desire to be PITT’s head football coach.Having won an ACC Championship and compiling 20 wins the previous two seasons he just doesn’t seem as interested in the job. Even before this season imploded, he just didn’t seem as enthusiastic or energetic heading into training camp this year.
I’m not saying winning the ACC two years ago is The equivalent of reaching some sort of career zenith, but successfully obtaining one significant objective like a P5 conference championship, while becoming financially secure over the past 9 years, significantly changes the mindset of what you’re trying to accomplish from a career perspective. Spending 9 years in the same role in the same place is a long time, and given Narduzzi’s personality ( he seems to have a bit of attention deficit disorder) you have to wonder if he still has the same level of motivation & desire he had starting out 9 years ago as a first time Head Coach.
It might be time for Narduzzi to ask himself if he’s still has the fire in his belly when it comes to this job. Perhaps it’s time to take a step back and reevaluate if he’s really up to the challenge of getting Pitt Football back on the trajectory of the previous two seasons or is it time to move on to a new challenge in a new program.
