Does Pitt go for two if they score?

Was wondering the same thing. I think you have to considering our D sucks and u have a backup QB in.

If Orndoff caught the pass, I am saying no.... since there were still 3 minutes left. That's too much time left.

But if Pitt would've scored a TD on the subsequent drive that DiNucci threw the pick on.... say with only a few seconds left in the game.... I think yes.

Here's the math:

A) What are the chances Pitt scores from 3 yards out in one play.... given that DiNucci was the QB. I would argue that with Peterman it's about 65%. With DiNucci, maybe 40%.

B) What are the odds Pitt wins in OT... given that NU moved the ball pretty easily most of the game against Pitt, NU's kicker was solid, DiNucci playing QB for Pitt, and Blewitt had missed earlier. I'd say the odds are less than 40% Pitt wins in OT.

Therefore, go for 2.

But with 3 minutes left.... go for the tie. You can get the ball back potentially and win in regulation.... also, NU wouldn't play the final drive any differently down 32-31 as they would tied 31-31. Pitt's D would still need to stop them from getting into FG range with 3 minutes left and 3 timeouts. Not very likely, so the 32-31 lead doesn't mean much.

Way too much time left.

If you miss you're down and have to worry about even getting the ball back. If you make it it's largely meaningless with Northwestern having that much time only needing 3 against that defense.

Decent amount of risk without that great of a reward.

I would have went for two. Not confident they had another scoring drive in them with an offense full of backups.

I told my friend they should if they scored. Why the hell not?
