Wonder what else those cities have in common ? 🤔

The United States is third in murders throughout the World. But if you take out just four cities: Chicago , Detroit , Washington DC and New Orleans , the United States is fourth from the bottom, in the entire world, for murders. These four Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S. All four of these cities are CONTROLLED BY DEMOCRATS. It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data - correct?

If those stats are true, that’s a jackpot of a stat.

I was about to say something about her being an irresponsible gun owner. But I’ll give her pass for providing compelling info.

In those cities......the criminals truly do own the guns and I would gather almost all of them illegal. Stop and Frisk should be a law in cities with gun murder rates over a certain level.

Also, New Orleans is a permit-less concealed carry city.

Be dumber. Notice a few things, math is good. It cleanses, it gets to the root, it is undefeatable.

1) If you have the smaller the overall population the easier it is to have higher murder rates.
2) Most of the dark blue are some of the highest proportion of black Americans.
3) Most of the whitest shaded states are the highest proportion of white Americans.
4) Most of the whitest shaded states have the highest proportion of legally owned guns (meaning armed citizens).
5) Large metro areas will skew things.

Don't move goalposts. Read the original claim. Stop trying to water down bullshit "facts" after it's pointed out how stupid the claim is.

Maybe I was supposed to read some racist nuance that he meant to say "The US really has a black problem" because that sounds like it's the argument you're making when 40% of your points are race-related.

not sure it's a black/white issue, white people live in cities too. i take it more as some of these democratic led cities, under democratic policies, claiming to be anti gun with strict gun laws, not really having any success whatsoever with gun violence...

the "take away the guns and gun violence will dissapear" theory is flawed.

It's more of a poverty/population density issue, comfortable and happy people don't usually commit murder. There are also undoubtedly cultural issues as well. Ignoring any of the major issues is unhelpful, but that isn't what the thread's claim is.

New Orleans is one of the most gun-friendly cities in the country, not requiring a permit for anyone over the age of 18 to carry a firearm except around schools and government buildings. New Orleans also has the highest homicide rate of any city in the country. New Orleans had more than 3x the homicide rate of Chicago in 2022.

The second highest is St. Louis. A city in a state with no background checks or permits for purchasing firearms and laws that don't allow cities to subvert state laws. I think they are banned in schools, parks, and government buildings.

Those two cities are far and above third place with more than 40% higher homicide rates than Detroit and more than double DC in 2022. Chicago doesn't show up until 11th, behind Detroit, DC, Oakland, Rochester, Atlanta, Richmond, Indianapolis, and Greensboro.

There is no way to stop guns from flowing into cities, when the surrounding area is flooded with weapons that anyone can buy or careless gun owners allow to be stolen.

Your post does nothing to disprove the claims in the original post.

And their post provides exactly zero figures.

Where did they get their data? What year is the data from? There isn't any credible organization that tracks murders in 195 countries on an annual basis, is there? Is it total murders? Murders per capita? Are they just removing the murders in the cities listed but keeping the population? Or are they pretending like the entire population of those cities is also gone?

By no means are we top 3 in murders per capita (we aren't even top 3 in North America), so I have to assume that they might be talking about total murders since our large population makes that feasible. But do they have numbers from 195 countries to make that claim? I have to imagine both China and India would be higher than us just based off having 4x our population and possible higher poverty rates (Unless you believe China's touted 0.7% poverty rate and India's official 4%). Then Mexico is also definitely above us if gang violence is considered in the homicide rate. So let's say that the United States is 4th in total homicides in 2023.

So by most accounts, there were 19,252 homicides int he United States in 2023.
Chicago had 617 in a population of 2.664 million people.
Detroit had 252 homicides in a population of 663k people.
D.C. had 274 homicides in a population of 679k people.
New Orleans (A permit-less carry city) had 193 homicides in a population of 364k.

Add all of those up and those 4 cities make up less than 7% of the total homicides in the nation. Do you really think that our country drops 188 spots if we remove less than 7% of our homicides?

Who knew the "critical thinking/did my own research" group would be so ****ing dumb? Oh that's right...everyone else.

Hey fun fact, if you subtract those 4 cities you still have 17,916 homicides in the United States. There are 4 UN recognized nations with fewer people than that in their entire country. The 5th lowest population is San Marino with 34k people. That country must be in a perpetual purge state if 53% of their population is murdered every year to put them above the US-minus-4 cities.

Hey, it was on twitter, it must be true, the great source of right wing information

I think we all know what’s going but are afraid to say it because the gotcha police will come out of all the nooks and crannies and start calling names.

One can point out that gun related homocides are going to be elevated in areas where blacks live. That’s not racist. There’s no hate in acknowledging that. What is racist is not caring about it and ignoring it because of who it impacts. Personally I’d like to see it go away. No one wants to see people go through that. The same can be said about meth and fetanyl killing hillbillies in Kentucky.

It's just really tough to have serious conversation about this.

The right will say they need to pull themselves up from the bootstraps and the left will say the right is racist. Both are right a little.

But it's also nuanced and complicated and quite frankly it's difficult.

But that's what makes the USA the USA, imo, and for all the challenges it was what made us the best country in the world.

But right now leaning out of diversity is having a moment, I think it's the wrong move but it's not up to me.

The country, the world, is changing. Some people don't like it. Instead of adapting we want to turn the clock back.

I guess we will see.

They have anti gun laws, the problem is they don't have anti crime laws.

Here is Aaron Swan. Now dead. Thank god, he should have been publicly lynched years ago. He was a human piece of garbage.

Records show the man accused of killing Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire and shooting a Tarentum officer has a lengthy criminal history.

Police said they shot and killed Aaron Swan Jr., 28, after he got into a shootout with police Monday night in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood.

Swan's criminal history starts in 2013 when he pleaded guilty to theft and disorderly conduct and received probation.

In 2014, Swan was charged with homicide when a Larimer man was found dead in the parking lot of Mount Ararat Baptist Church. Prosecutors withdrew that charge when Swan agreed to cooperate and testify against another man who was convicted of the killing.

Records show Swan pleaded guilty to robbery/serious bodily injury and conspiracy. He was sentenced to three to six years in prison but was released after just over one year.

Also in 2017, court records show he received probation after pleading guilty to having an illegal firearm, taunting a police animal, escape, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.

In 2019, records show he pleaded guilty to drug distribution and was sent back to prison until being paroled in June 2021.

In November 2021, he was charged with theft, simple assault and terroristic threats. A police report says Swan stole a Glock pistol from a car parked on the South Side. When the gun owner showed up, the two men fought. Police say Swan threatened to kill the gun owner and then ran to a nearby park. The police never caught him.

Weeks later, on Christmas Day, police tracked Swan to a Penn Hills apartment complex using Apple AirPods that Swan allegedly stole, according to a criminal complaint. Officers found him asleep in his car with a green Glock pistol and ordered him to get out. Swan tried to drive away, but his car got stuck. The police report says he jumped out of the car and ran into the nearby woods.

That was his last contact with law enforcement until Monday's shootings.

According to the Department of Corrections, Swan's parole was revoked in April after he failed to report to his parole officer.

He shot and killed a family friend, Brackenridge Police Chief Justin McIntire on 1/2/03. He should have never been let out. He was scum. He should have been sent to El Salvador.

You mean other than proving that New Orleans absolutely doesn't have the "toughest gun-control laws" or that the US couldn't possibly be the 4th lowest anything in any category gun-crime related if you simply removed statistics of those four cities. Other than that, it's pretty hard to disprove a nebulous claim that includes no facts, stats, sources, or reasoning.

Man, I'm sorry. I feel terrible.

The other day I was disgusted with the deplorables on here making fun of an autistic teenager's song...yet here I am...arguing with you and not letting you sing your own song. I missed the telltale signs when you argued that the North was at fault for the Civil War and the South didn't secede to preserve slavery. I mean, you're clearly not a teen, but I still feel terrible.

Wait.. one of your brethren uses retard references 5 times a post 100 times a day, but it was the autistic kid that wasnt labeled autistic in the post that really sent you over the edge?

The singing kid was just that, a nameless kid with a mask over his face, singing about Dr Fauci. Nowhere in that video was there anything that alerted the viewer that the kid was on the spectrum.

It would be no different than us making fun of JoJoCovid for a ridiculous post, and CJsE telling us how awful we are for making fun of a retarded person. Unless Joey tells us he’s retarded, how are we to know?

Except that I used to live like 10 minutes from where that was filmed and still have friends that live in the area so posts about this entered my feed back when it happened, so I know exactly who that person is. The state even made a "got vaccinated" sticker out of one of his drawings.

Congrats though on being an insider on such things.

Yeah and honest mistakes happen.

But the non-deplorable reaction to being told the person you are ridiculing is on the spectrum is to think "Ooops, I made an honest mistake, I should stop now and maybe take down the post." But that isn't what you did, is it? That isn't what the other deplorables on the board did, is it?

lol. Lighten up. So you said…and then you ran away when questioned. People can now choose to take your word for it…or not.

So you wanted me to actually Dox the person that you joked about doxing? That is your solution? It would take literally 4 seconds in Google to confirm what I said at the time. Again, a non-deplorable would have taken 4 seconds to confirm they weren't in fact being a terrible human.

For someone that takes Facebook and Twitter claims at face value without hesitation it's a wonder you needed any more evidence than an anonymous posted on a message board making a claim.

Ok. It’s a message board. It’s really not that important buddy. Moral of the story, Joey acts like a 14 year old boy with autism. Not something to laugh at. But it’s something to ponder.
