If Pitt lands Reid and champ returns, a starting five of femi, Nike, Horton, Reid, champ is pretty solid versus where the panic mob has been. If Jeffress and collier have decent sophomore campaigns it should be bubblish. That is not counting any additions like santos, transfers, other freshman and in the age of transfers Capel should get some credit for keeping the core of femi, Nike, Horton and champ intact. Had hugley not ran into legal troubles I think this seasons outcome would have been different in wins as well as transfers.

Femi, Horton, Sibande, Champagnie, Reid is an NCAAT lineup.
Femi, Horton, Sibande, Collier, low-rated transfer Center is a 2-18 lineup.
Capel's future rides on the Reid and Champagnie decisions, more or less.

But c’mon man, Capel should get credit for keeping Femi, Nike, Horton and Champ intact? What, does the entire team have to jump ship before you can consider it neutral let alone a negative?
The coach will be judged by the performance of the team and nothing else .

Yes in the age of transfers keeping Femi (upgrade over X), Sibande, Horton, and Champ would be a solid returning core. Reid would be a superior upgrade over AKC and Brown combined. Drumgoole was not doing anything. Potential pieces in Jeffress stayed while they could have entered the portal. In this new age, it appears he at least got core pieces to buy in and stay. Femi, Sibande, Horton, Champ, and Reid should be a bubble team. Jefress, Collier, Santos will be better depth than before. I will be negative if that team does not win and that will be on coaching, but the size and athleticism has been improving each season.
I have been a frustrated fan with the losing for sure, but am much more optimistic in general. Win or lose it does not change my life and I will always root for PITT even forbid they pull another 0-19. I am excited for fans to return with energy for a competitive team.

Horton maybe improved
Champagnie maybe improved
Reid huge upgrade over AKC
Sibande is a downgrade from Toney
But if this is our lineup, we should be WAY better
