Donovan Jeter

Penn State must honestly be more hurt than pitt. He claims he wants to go to a big time school that plays important games and totally shrugged off UPS.
He also said he wants to be part of a program who is already winning, not one trying to rebuild. PSU meets the definition of a program trying to rebuild, just like PITT.

I guess my point in posting about the 5 other 4 star DL was:

1. It ain't over.

2. Will Harbaugh honor his commitment in January?

3. Will he end up at PSU or WVU?

4. Will Narduzzi continue to recruit him?

Tune in again and find out on the next episode of "All My Commitments"

The article in this morning's newspaper said Jeter thinks Harbaugh is the coolest coach he's ever met, partly because he picked him and the other recruits up at midnight in a van. Who knew that Jeter was looking for a head coach who can also double as a uber driver?

I think Pitt's program will be able to survive without this kid.

Coach Harbough is sooo coool

Wow... not only has Michigan picked up a total of six 4 star DL commitments this year, but they also signed five D-Linemen last year including one 5 star player and two 4 star players...

This kid needs guidance...

I realize he's teenager but honestly he goes to ND, get's all excited, commits immediately, then has buyers remorse and de-commits saying that he needs to carefully consider his options, goes to Michigan and does the exact same thing. Pretty wacko, even by today's recruiting standards. I don't wish the kid ill-will, but it would be kind of entertaining if Harbaugh pulls a "Weaver" on Jeter and pulls his scholarship at the last minute. In any case, Pitt should absolutely move on.

Cruzer

Even more head scratching is that he has family members that have been Division 1 athletes. They have been through recruiting before, so he should have some experience and advice to draw from.

He was originally supposed to make his decision on Halloween...now he has made two commitments BEFORE Halloween. The ND visit came out of the blue and he committed a day later. He immediately had remorse (shocking), and says he will take more visits and take his time (good idea) to find the right place for him. Then goes on his next visit and commits. Wow.

He has made comments about ND and Kelly after his de-commitment that he has had to apologize for. Good God the kid's a drama queen. I've said this before, but he is handling his recruitment in a way that he will have to play extremely well to live up to how special of a player he says he is. I've never seen him play, so I don't know. I will say he will likely be held to a standard that will be tough to meet.

If you think Pitt is only recruiting him and not talking to others....then you don't get how this works. Pitt should NOT stop recruiting him, just like they should not stop recruiting anybody else at any position.

What's the gain out of pulling his scholarship and not recruiting him anymore?

It depends; are there other DL interested in coming to PITT under the pretense that Narduzzi doesn't take any more DL? I'm not saying that's the case, but it has happened before. That's the only thing that could be gained in pulling his offer.

I would love to have Hudson last year and Jeter this year to Pitt, but once again, Harbaugh knows how to recruit the Best and develop the Best and he learned that from his Father a True Big Blue Alum that spent some time at Pitt in 1980s.

Yet, having Hudson & Jeter playing Defense against Franklin & Staff every year is not going to be a pretty outcome. Right now Hudson would be a Starter at Pitt and Jeter too next year.

I still suspect that AD Barnes paying Consultant's to save Stallings Job is part of why Jeter did not go to Pitt.

Stallings better have PITT Basketball better this year, not next, and not in 3 years. Dumb Jock Talk Barnes better hope he knows his BB Coaching as TCU Ad ran rings around him to get a lower Buyout from TCU and then paying a Conflict of Interests Consultant get some of that cash, is just another example of why Pitt struggles to be IT!!

Gallagher better have Barnes on a short leash and no Extensions or Buyouts until Stallings proves his mouth from the south is as good as as his Coaching Claims to be, we shall see?

Narduzzi & Franklin & Holgrosen all will struggle against OSU, Michigan, and other Programs until they start winning 10+ Games, WVU is on that path, Penn State path just got easier too, and Pitt still needs to prove it the next 3 games?

No excuses, Athletic Management Matters, and Consultants are not needed under a Great Athletic Director and College President rejecting Sweetheart prior Bosses Deals SHOULD BE A PRIORITY ATTENTION STANDARD, and the Barnes Press Conference was a disaster.

If it comes out later and I have Long Ears into Beaver Falls HSFB Barnes hurting Football is what we had under Penis-son and that was a small AD with smaller hands into Programs he knew nothing about!

Stallings better work out and in TribLive he blaming his Players just like he did at Vanderbilt! This is a sign of Putz Person and Poor Excuse Coach!

Like your posts, not being critical but the teenager excuse is like a bucket that doesn't hold water.
The kid has some issues that will probably surface later when he's with some program and something happens that he doesn't like. Or worse he'll pull a hat switch trick on signing day.
Notice I didn't say hat trick switch. That would have confused some of the Lair posters.
Plenty of mentally stable players out there to pick from!

Oh yes a bucket that doesn't hold water can be used as a hat.
I saw it used that way once at 3 am after a bar closed.
Not sure if he put it on his head or someone assisted him!

Jeter is a local kid, and apparently, a good kid too, so let's just wish him well.

I am concerned for him that he appears to be quickly swayed, actually convinced, by a good dog and pony show. I hope he sticks with his Michigan commitment.

Question is, what will he do if he feels buried on the depth chart after his first year, given all the talent there? According to him, he wants go a big school and make big plays. You can only make big plays if you earn playing time. It will surprise no one if he is looking to transfer after his first year there...that is, assuming he ever goes there.

BTW, this is my last word on him. I sure hope this board isn't talking about him for the next four year's, as it did with Foster.

I would not take his transfer if he wanted to....however if he flips again to Pitt before LOI day, i'm fine with it. And my stand is against any kid that has a Pitt offer then wants to come back, I would not take them....Robert Foster included.

He's let his recruitment get to his head. He thinks he's a big, big time player. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. One thing is for certain; when he shows up at the Michigan practice facility next fall and walks over to his position group, he will see 7-8 elite players more heavily recruited than he was that he will have to out-perform to get on the field. Best of luck to him, he will need it.
