Have a friend that knows the Miller family and he told me that while it appears publically that they are not interested in the Pitt job, behind the scenes that may not necessarily be the case.
He was told by one of the family members that this is all part of the "negotiating process".
May not mean anything in the end, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
For me personally, I'd take Sean, Archie doesn't do it for me.

Ship has sailed.

John Miller spewed shit all over the program today in the news....

Sean ain't coming. And Archie never was coming.

You're stoned.

Could be true. Could not be true. That was a firm sounding denial he issued today. However nothing surprises me when it comes to coaching searches. Miller is due to collect a $2.1 million retention bonus if he stays at AZ past April 30.

I'm just not convinced Pitt is/was ever prepared to do what would be necessary to get Sean Miller. Sure, AZ is a better job but Pitt is a place where a coach like Sean Miller could have tremendous success. If Pitt were willing to pony up $5 million, I think he would be inclined to give it serious consideration.

I say we pony up $15M just to make sure.

All part of the negotiating process is correct. Sean was using us as leverage to sweeten his deal with Arizona.

That's crazy. I know you were being sarcastic, but if Barnes ever truly reached out to Miller, then you would have to think he was willing to pay $4 mil, minimum. Otherwise, why even bother with the phone call?

Due diligence. See if he has any interest in coming to Pitt at all. If he did, from there, you start talking financials, etc.

You don't just call him with a 70% raise sitting on the table. Heck, even if he had interest, he is not worth a 70% raise.

Responses ...

1. I've heard this too.
2. I've heard the Richie Walsh thing screwed up the process.
3. I no longer believe anything I hear.

Pitt needs someone who can go into NYC, New Jersey and Phily with connections to high school coaches, as Narduzzi calls them built relationships
