The ACC appears to be WIDE open this season. Why not us?
Jeremy Roach is hurt and I said this in another thread before. And he's been hurt. He is likely out for at least a few more games. And they are not even close to being the same team without him.

If you watched the final 12 minutes today. They were completely clueless. I can’t believe whitehead is a projected lotto. He missed a crucial wide open breakaway dunk.
That was embarrassing. It came at a bad time too. Duke was lucky to escape.

Must have been the day for that. I was listening to the end of the Virginia - Syracuse game on the way home and Virginia made a three at 11:41 left in the second half to go up by 22, and then didn't make another basket until there was only 1:55 left in the game, so almost 10 full minutes without a basket. Of course they were so far ahead that Syracuse had only cut it to 8 in that span, and Virginia ended up winning by 7.
I was worried about that too but they really only use NET to determine your quad wins.
They're not too good. I'll be upset if we lose because I feel we are as good or better. They're little kids and not your typical future NBA All-Star little kids

Without Roach playing in the game for Duke with their guard issues? It should be a bit less and a game we can certainly win without Roach.
The Virginia announcers even mentioned that Syracuse did the same thing against us, getting down by 20+ points before making a comeback but eventually falling short.

I don't think there are any really good teams in the ACC this year. Perfect season for Pitt to make a top run. Stay connected on defense and keep shooting it good .
Agreed. I dont see any Top 4 seeds. UNC is as talented as anyone but they wont start playing for awhile if ever. Miami actually is probably the best team now that I think about it. Right now, I'd probably say:
1. Miami
2. Virginia
3. UNC
4. Clemson
5. Pitt
6. NC State
7. Duke
Duke isnt that good. Put different jerseys on them and they're a bubblish team. Their best results are beating Ohio State at Cameron and only losing by 5 to Kansas. They haven't done much. I know people will say "but its Duke, they are awesome." No, I think they are eventually going to fall to the bubble so Wednesday is a really big bubble game.
I did not know that. Roach is there leader. I thought we had a decent shot with him, but we have an even better shot without him.
Duke will be very close to double digit favorite over us at Duke. If we played at Pitt, we would be about a 4-5 point dog.
If that's the line without Roach playing and they know that, there is going to be parlay city taking place for that game. But hey, I dont set the odds. I don't gamble either. But Id be all over it with that line and no Roach.
Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer said Saturday after their win versus BC that he does not expect junior guard and captain Jeremy Roach to be able to play against Pitt on Wednesday.
They aren't the same team even with him playing injured. It was just the other night NC State beat Duke by almost 30 and Roach was 0-8 shooting. Tonight they beat a bad BC team by 1 point without him playing in the game.
Its the same toe injury he suffered months ago and it was reaggravated. Duke's best bet is to sit him for some time before they make the injury worse and he cant play at all this season. I was expecting him to miss multiple games. For Sheyer to come out and say that now, he is out against us.
Even if he were to play which I doubt he will, he is not even close to being 100%.
I will be all over it, but the lines aren’t set for us. They are set for the majority of fans in the country who know Duke always has good teams and almost always bet them to cover.
I hope the new coach fails and they drop in stature, I think college sports are better when blue bloods turn to crap and aren't in the mix and no names end up rising up over them. Like, I'd love to see Bama have a string of bad seasons in Football and absolutely love what Nebraska has become, I was loving Florida State being crap for a while too.
Duke is big at every position but not quick at all. BC got to the rim whenever they wanted. So much so that Duke employed a 2-3 zone to finish the game. I bet if we have success attacking the rim, they’ll go zone early. Don’t know how we match up physically with their size. Could be a concern.
