Mike Elko walked in and took a bad Duke team and turned it into a 9 win team overnight. This year, 3-0. And he’s got them into the top 40 in recruiting. I’m thinking Elko doesn’t spend 85% of his preparation time with his defense, basically ignoring the offense. And their QB recruit didn’t have 0 stars when he committed.
Leipold and Elko can either move up the ladder now, or they can die on the vine like Matt Campbell. Those type of programs always come back down to their levels. But if the money is right they may not care either way.
Also, if Syracuse is a basketball blue blood, then Beetlejuice from the Howard Stern Show is a Kardashian.

I just threw Syr and UCLA in there but both are basketball schools with great bball tradition
I consider UCLA a blue blood. Most titles, second most final fours, championships under 2 coaches, final four under 4 coaches. Has appeared in a final four every decade since the 60s.
A lot of good matchups in CFB this weekend with a lot of good storylines better than a few BB blue bloods being 3-0.
Among those 3-0 blue bloods, we’re of course playing UNC. Also of interest, 3-0 Kansas taking on 3-0 Kedon Slovis-led BYU.
And not limiting it to 3-0 BB blue bloods:
3-0 Oregon vs 3-0 Prime Time Colorado
3-0 Ohio State vs 4-0 ND
3-0 Iowa vs 3-0 PSU
3-0 Utah vs 3-0 UCLA
3-0 FSU vs 2-1 Clemson (for ACC interest)
3-0 Oklahoma vs 2-1 Cinn (for prior Pitt opponent interest)
My favorite, 3-0 Oregon St vs 3-0 Washington St. I know it will never happen but wouldn’t it be cool for one of the 2 PAC leftovers w/o a future conference to make it to the BCS playoffs.
Many more potentially good matchups on top of the above.

Boo City or Yinzer Nation, or whatever you want to call it, is always stuck with Neanderthal football teams who scoff at modern offense and masturbate over "pawndin' da rock" and defense, and we only have good years lately like an ACC Championship in the year the coach or the senile owner (Art R) is pissed off because we're not running the ball enough and the next year we dismantle the pass offense and return to sucking.
I hope Prime loses, I don't hate him, I just want to reduce focus on Prime Mania in the media. And it is funny Oregon St and Washinton St are good this year, just shows being good at football is the least important criteria.
Why? So we can go back to talking about the SEC for 95% of all national shows?
I’m enjoying this new wrinkle to the same old talk, and I love seeing people get so worked up about Deion. The ride won’t last forever, so the attention will come down in time anyways, but enjoying it so far as a storyline.
Colorado will be 3-2 by the end of September and will have 5ish losses at the end of the year. That being said, quite a turnaround from 1-11 last year.
Personally I wish only the worst for Deion in life. I think he’s a total scumbag, him wearing a cowboy hat is dumb, and his perpetual victim mentality is also dumb. Colorado might be the most overrated team in the Country. That being said, I think the honeymoon for Colorado ends this weekend. Good luck going to Eugene with a garbage offensive line. I hope Oregon absolutely destroys Colorado and mercilessly beats them. Dan Lanning was also a GA at Pitt I think.
My feelings as well. The people always bashing them as being no good, a fraud etc. are correct--they aren't very good. They are playing with maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of a legit P5 roster--which to me makes the fact that they keep finding ways to win, no matter who the opponent, that much more impressive and enjoyable. The ride obviously won't last forever but that takes nothing away from what they have done so far. And while they aren't a legit top 25 team, they have a couple of legit top 10 players--one at QB--and we are seeing what a difference that plus a good creative OC can make.
Deion is very big on self-promotion, close to being a narcissist. But he is one of the hardest working people in football, both when he played and now when he coaches. So what's wrong with some self promotion given the amount of work he puts into it?
Out of curiosity, what makes him a harder worker as a coach than any other coach? Every football coach is America is relentless in their work ethic. I just wonder what evidence you have that makes Deion different.

I don't mind Deion, but I get bored with anyone that gets overhyped. He has figured it out. College football is partly fake like WWE Wrestling and that's his strength, talking loud and having the cameras on you is a winning strategy, talking kids into coming with you is the most important thing. and then if he has some success, he's the tie breaker, if it's between his team and another team all things being near equal, the selectors for the playoffs or a big bowl bid, will choose his team just because the TV networks will want the PRIME HYPE and the TV ratings, doesn't matter who's really better at football it's who travels well or gets ratings and hype, this year, I could see him being 7-5 and going to a New Years Day bowl just because the TV networks will demand the PRIME HYPE OVER SELECTING A BORING 10-2 TEAM WITH A BORING COACH.
Exactly. Deion puts in the work. He also knows how to build relationships and motivate others. And I thought he was very classy and gracious in what he said about the CSU guy that sent Hunter to the hospital.
I think the thing that scares people about Deion being successful is that success breeds copy cats. They have concerns about the game falling in the hands of shameless self-promoters with no substance and turning everything into a clown show. And some are haters because they don't feel he's paid his dues.
Never said that, just dispelling the notion that he is all flash and no substance.
And if Colorado ends up with like 9 or 10 wins that would be pretty good evidence that he is a harder worker than most.
Of course the last coach to go from a 1 win season to a 10 win season wasn't necessarily the hardest worker and is well known by Pitt fans. 😆😆
I wasn’t trying to be argumentative, I was curious FYI. In a sense, doesn’t Deion’s name recognition alone get him some recruits? I mean, Jackson State landed the #1 recruit in all of college football strictly because of Deion. And, Boulder CO is gorgeous, recruiting should be like shooting fish in a barrel for him. Would Revis have the same affect if he coached at say App State and had success before coming back to Pitt? Maybe…
Best comment I've read today We have to remember it's Duke and I haven't heard their football program is letting in just anybody.. I grew up going the Heights Plaza, National Record Mart, Princess Pastries, buying cars from Bouchet Buick, and Howard Johnson's on the corner Used to be the Alle-Kiski area had best high school football in the countr.
