Talent usually takes over this time of year.
If we had some of their players, we would make the NCAA’s.
Duke has ridiculous talent. I could coach them to the sweet 16. They run zero offense, its just clear out and go 1 on 1. But when you have that talent it works. Coach K gave up coaching and developing most guys. He gets the top players and rolls the ball out now. They are not great on defense and win with talent who scores at will on offense. It works for them but they are not the Duke of old that ran offense and had players who ran any sort of system like when they had Singler and those guys.

A ton of dribble drive and occasionally get it into the post. I don’t see many sets like they used to run. But that is all of college basketball.
I don’t know if those are considered sets. But they did create mismatches through handoffs, a little pistol action, and high pick and rolls. Those are more simple actions than the motion offense they used to run.
You’re exactly right, and they do a lot off of ball screens as well. That 3 minute stretch after the timeout was a coaching clinic.
They also play excellent defense when they want to clamp down.

I am not a Dukie by any means, but Coach K doesn’t just roll the balls out. I’m not sure what you guys were watching this tournament if that is what you believe.
The cross screens created the lane and mismatches
i honestly don’t think Duke has run a motion offense in the conventional sense like Dixon or Indiana under knight .
sure always plenty of motion particularly to get screens for shooters who worked hard to get open .
It’s a big part of why I laughed at Horton being a statue on a spot 85% of the time .

the players would know lack of success was definitely them and not the coach....with Capel at the helm, they have serious doubts if that is the case..and, they would have had 3-5 more wins.
