The Russia and Belarus national teams removed from NHL 22. Russia, CSKA Moscow, Zenit St. Petersburg, Lokomotiv Moscow, and Spartak Moscow were removed from FIFA 22. Surprised FIFA 22 didn't have the full Russian Super League since they have the Indian League, Saudi Arabian League, Chinese Leagues and many other leagues as good or worse than thr Russian one. I honestly think they may add USL somewhat soon. That league is getting pretty popular.

That's actually funny, sanctioning fantasy teams basically :)

Maybe they should remove Ovie and Malkin from NHL 2022 :)

All of those Russian teams already had been removed from the Champions League and other real European competitions by being eliminated in real matches.

It still boggles my mind and defies any reasonable explanation other than institutional corruption that the champion of the Russian League (usually Zenit St. Petersburg) has had an automatic spot in the Champions League the past few years while the champion of the Dutch League, Ajax, had to play its way into the tournament. Not only that, but Zenit was in Pool 1, which meant they couldn’t be drawn into the same group as the perceived best teams on the continent.

I know they claim it’s based on some formula, but I believe that as much as I believe that the draws for matchups when they get to the round of 16 are honest.

Ajax is legit. Obviously lots of history there, but the current team has an outside shot at winning the whole thing. We know the usual suspects are the betting favorites, but I wouldn’t mind putting a few $ down on Ajax for the hell of it.

how’s the wife and family?

For this year's Champions League that is simply not true. The automatic qualifiers were the top four teams from England, Germany, Italy and Spain, the top four leagues by their ranking system. Villareal also got in as a fifth team from Spain because they won last year's Europa League and did not finish in the top four in Spain. The next two highest ranked leagues, France and Portugal, got two automatic qualifiers each. The the next five highest ranked leagues got one team each, and that was Russia, Belgium, Ukraine, Netherlands and Turkey. So both Zenit and Ajax qualified for the Champions League group stages without having to qualify.

It looks like for next year the top six leagues will all stay the same (although not in the exact same order), England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal in that order, then the next five are, in order, Netherlands, Russia, Belgium, Austria and Scotland.

Still alive. The apartment where Masha has been staying is in a suburb about 10 miles from Irpin, the suburb which the Russians leveled for absolutely no military reason. Her father, a Soviet military veteran, joined the Territorial Defense Forces of the Oblast where they live. Her brother, a contractor, is designing and building road barricades in the city they live in. The Ukrainians literally wiped out an entire Russian battalion that tried to enter the city and he likes to think the barricades played a part.
