Early top 25 for next year.

What's interesting in both of these polls are.................the St. Bonaventure Bonnies led by the coach we didn't want because he was a boring hire.
2 trends that I like:

- the old boring bald coach who (Tad Boyke, Mark Schmidt, Mike Young, going back aways Ben Howland)

- the former NBA player who has never been a HC (Howard, Davis, Woodson, Stackhouse)

I admit I didn't want Schmidt. None us did. We were all wrong. He is boring AF but the guy can flat coach.

Yep. We were just dreading the boring A10 coach thinking he is just another Duquesne coach. Capel represented the ACC, big name, good recruiter and the program would be rolling.

I know lots of people hate facts, but Jeff Capel's 1st 3 years at Pitt are better than Mark Schmidit's 1st 3 at St. Bonaventure. Schmidt didn't have a winning conference record until year 5, that was also his 1st 20-win season with the Bonnies. And even after that season he proceeded to go 14-15, 7-9, 11th place/18-15, 6-10, 9th place/18-13, 10-8, 7th place in the A-10.

8 years in and just one 20-win season and just once finishing in the top half of the A-10. Years 9-14 he has finished in the Top 5 of the A-10 every year, with 3 20-win seasons.

Yet people on here want to fire Capel after 3-4 years when he took over a program in WAY worse shape that what St. Bonaventure was. smh...

It takes time, have patience!

St. Bonaventure is possibly the worst job in the A10. Pitt is a solid mid-tier ACC job.

Are you purposely leaving Kevin Stallings off of that listed? We tried to old boring bald coach. It didn't turn out great.

We will disagree that Pitt is a mid-tier ACC job. It certainly was not that after 2 years of Kevin Stallings. I don't even think it was that after Dixon left.

North Carolina
Duke
Syracuse
Louisville
Virginia (only because of Bennett)

Next 8 (very little difference)

Boston College

Anyone not driven by delusions agree it's a much more difficult lift in the ACC verses the A10.

Using your own metrics- list the blue blood and near blue bloods programs in the A10. I'll hang up and listen...

No one, okay or few people want to fire Capel for the record over the past 3 years. The angst is because.....because why? Why? Let's think?? Hmmmmmmmmmm
The fact is no one is left from his first recruiting class??
The fact that there looks like only 1 player will contribute from his second class, and he may go pro.
The fact is we have ZERO recruits committed for 2021, and it is April of 2021.
The fact there are no verbals for 2022
The fact is everyone is getting each other's transfers, well exceptin' for Pitt.

It's not the record of the past 3 years that has people concerned. I didn't think this needed to be explained.

I love how Pitt fans are so defensive when other school's fans call our programs trash, but the minute we need an excuse for mediocrity, we are quick to label our own programs as trash.

If we are having this discussion next year , yes fire him after 4, not now, plus contract Heather anchored Pitt with buys him maybe 2 more , one more to turn it around for me , think most people are wanting 1 more to see if the ship starts to turn around, I just feel it won't

It is, but that certainly separates us from say a Boston College. And if that doesn't have any relevance, and it may not, then the Kevin Stallings era has no relevance either. Kids don't care about 4 years ago losing seasons.
BC has no fans, no money, and plays in a college hockey arena for crying out loud. They are CLEARLY the worst program.

There's very little difference from a program standpoint between Pitt, Wake, NC State, ND, Clemson, VT, FSU, GT. Those programs are as good as their coach, plain and simple.

You’d have a better chance of winning the lottery multiple times over than knowing the rosters for all the teams in D1 basketball.
