This is another guy I really like, but also see some real limitations
He hustles every second he's on the floor. He rebounds well, he has
a handle, and slashes to the hoop strong. He's also tough on D.
By this time however, I think it's pretty obvious that shooting is not
his strong point. Yesterday...1-4 from the floor, and 2-9 from the line.
These are truly unacceptable numbers. I feel he's lost whatever
confidence he had in his shot. He's passing up shots from
the outside, and this tells me that Capel has probably told him not
to shoot unless it's a layup, or a putback.
He also pretty clearly is a team leader and a real team player. I
personally believe just about any player can be at least decent
at the line if the time is put in practicing it. IMO he needs to put in
hours of practice working on his shot. I'm talking hundreds of shots
per day outside of regular practice time.
He's still starting, but his floor time might be less until he gets a
somewhat reliable shot. I hope he gets there.

He made a tremendous hustle play saving a ball from going out of bounds. Guy just isn't a shooter though -- hasn't been throughout his college career.

His shot has no arc. IM sure he’s worked on it but he really needs to get with a shooting coach and make that his priority. I find it hard to believe a kid can’t shoot better than he does with some extra effort

He seems like a really good kid, hustles, has some athletic ability, just a really good basketball player. Man, we could use his dad though. I don't know if some of you youngsters realize how great his dad was.

I'm one of the youngsters that remember 'Never Nervous' and watched him play a lot. I'm so young that this is my 52nd year as a Pitt tic holder. I will be 74 in the morning and getting younger. HTP

If he took 10 hook shots with his eyes closed from the foul line he'd probably do better than 1-9. He didn't play all last year. You'd think he would work on his free throw shooting since his game is taking it to the hook and likely getting fouled.

Sometimes a great athlete with all the desirable characteristics that don't make a stat sheet (hustle, leadership, heart, IQ, etc) just never develops a great shot.

Example: Cam Wright (Pitt career FT .597, 3PT .254)

With that being stated, it is surprising to see a G/SF go 2-9 from the line. A raw big man, maybe, but not a perimeter player at this level.

The object of the game of basketball is to put the ball in the hoop. If you can’t do that you shouldn’t be playing. Move on to your life’s work

And they were flat ugly free throws... not even close. Just perplexing how bad of a shooter he is.
