The next step, according to Chaney, is to start pushing things down the field a bit more. “I’m very much aware we’re not pushing the ball down the field the way we’d like to,” Chaney said. “Hopefully we’ll be able to do that if that’s necessary to win the game.”

Yeah there's a lot of similarities between Pitt's offense and the steelers offense and the biggest difference is the big plays the steelers get, fairly frequently multiple ones in a single drive. With Ben as qb of course.

I haven't had a problem w/ chaney's playcalling all year. he is working with what he has and the strengths of his offense and what the defense is giving them. I think the whole staff is doing great. hope they are here for years to come.

Is it just me, or are most of our longer passes (completions and targets) thrown to WR's/TE's that aren't Boyd?

It's definitely not you at all. But, I look at that as a very good thing. Teams are doubling and tripling TB when he runs a route, thus opening up our other threats (namely JP Holtz and Ord). Hence, this tells me that NP is making the right read and getting the ball to the open receiver. This is a very good development for the overall progression of our offense. H2P

Like I have said all year. Implementing a new offense doesn't happen over night. We have tangible evidence from week to week now how the offense has been opening up.

Exactly WBR. An offense takes time to implement and to perfect. Hopefully we are seeing the offense gel for the stretch run!

I liked the fact that the offense answered the GT offenese when needed on Saturday. I am encouraged they are just about ready to turn the corner.

No doubt about that. Quarterback change, new playbook, new terminology, new timing etc. The O line injuries and reshuffling set the O back a good deal as well. I honestly think the biggest reason we're not running the ball as well as we would like to is more the O line inconsistency than it is absence of our superstar--although no question that hurts us.
