Hope it isn't Montae Nicholson as he is stinking it up big time for Sparty. Looks terrible out there in coverage and tackling. He's a marshmallow.
Absurd.. the kid has struggled in a couple games. .but was an impact player under Narduzzi, starting 3 game as a true freshman on one of the nations top defenses.. 6-2, and 220 and can fly.... yeah, you don't want him.Assume you're talking Henry. If so-love it.

SountNice post. Very insightful. Please share your evaluation with the Pitt coaches.
Go Pitt.
I'm sure it isn't Nicholson, he's starting at safety for MSU and they have high hopes for him. But he's struggling badly. He's supposed to be a tremendous speed athlete and a big hitter, but he has had real problems in coverage and missing tackles. His struggles have been bad enough that there are mainstream media articles on the subject.Nice post. Very insightful. Please share your evaluation with the Pitt coaches.

If it is MN, he'd have to sit-out a year. Would it be worth it to him? As far as Hamlin, if he wants to play for a winning team, he's smart enough to realize that he'll have to face good competition wherever he goes. Any big time player who doesn't want competition should sign with Cal U or IUP.Its Nicholson, that's what the twitter rumors are anyway. I'm good with it as long as it doesn't hurt us with Hamlin.
Since you seem to be tuned in to this, has anyone indicated why he wants to leave MSU? Is it to follow Narduzzi or for some other reason?. I mean, he's the starter at a thin position for them.Absurd.. the kid has struggled in a couple games. .but was an impact player under Narduzzi, starting 3 game as a true freshman on one of the nations top defenses.. 6-2, and 220 and can fly.... yeah, you don't want him.

By the way, I bear the kid no ill will, but he has struggled mightily in every game they've played this season. It's been a major concern of their coaching staff. What stands out more than anything are his tackling problems. His rep is as a big hitter but guys are running right through him. It's a fact.
Weird that a starter would talk about leaving a top 5 team in the middle of the season to go sit out a full year somewhere else. That might be unprecedented, and I have a hard time believing it's true. He has been getting jerked around a little bit by his coaches-they benched him for the first half of the Purdue game then were forced to reinstate him as starter as they have depth problems and the only guy behind him is a true freshman. The other starting safety, Williamson, is a 3 year starter who was lost for the season to injury. They pulled Nicholson in the 4th Q Saturday and put the freshman, Khari Wills, in to finish the game. Nicholson had a disastrous game at RU and it was probably his low point at MSU. Dantonio has called him out a little bit in the media, saying he's having a "sophomore slump". Maybe Nicholson is just upset and that's where this is coming from. In the unlikely event he does want to transfer, sure, we should take him. He's only a sophomore, plenty of time to improve, and he would have plenty of time to do it sitting out a year.He was committed to Narduzzi.. I take a 3-4 game sample size with a grain of salt.. the kid never had any tackling problems before this run of "Montae's not playing well".. because sometimes a few bad plays gets you that moniker... He would thrive here, trust me... I am only in tune to it because he is in communication with a number of his former Gateway teammates.. and as you may know.. my son was a starter for the Gators for 2 years... .. No doubt he has had a couple rough games.. but you don't pass on a kid that has his size, and was the #1 recruit in the state.... I have a hard time believing this is a long term "problem" considering the kid was a wonder-boy and started three games as a freshman.....
Scaz, wonderful news !possible.. that a highly coveted top rated recent DB recruit could be coming home....

Why would MSU block him to transfer? The timing of it seems like venting. He was benched for a while.
Plus, might msu block Pitt anyway?
first time I heard this angle.. Good point.. Narduzzi has gone at lengths to avoid any poaching of msu's recruits, would he even accept this (If true)..Would Narduzzi even be willing to take a kid from his old program? Some coaches won't do that, especially with a players who's starting.
welcome to the "information age"Man with you Twitter hawks, no secret is left unturned. Maybe sometimes these constant wide broadcasts of "rumors" squelches them in their tracks.

The reason I know about his struggles is I watch MSU play every week. They jump off the page. The reason you feel compelled to post a smart ass response is you don't know shit about his play at MSU, and you is you've probably never seen him play a down of college football.
He's only a sophomore, it's certainly conceivable that he will improve, but he has been awful.
Anyway, hope it's Henry. He is battle ready.
I've never seen Montae Nicholson play. That being said, here is why I'm happy to add him to the Panthers.
1) Just 1.5 years ago, he was a 4* safety recruit from Monroeville with offers from Ohio State, FSU, Michigan, and Stanford (plus a bunch of others, obviously).
2) He has phenomenal physical skills (6'2", 220#, fast & strong, does well in track & field at the college level).
3) He played in every game as a true freshman in 2014, starting 3 contests (all against Big Ten competition), recovered 2 fumbles that year including 1 against eventual national champs Ohio State, was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, and actually lead MSU in special teams tackles (10), all for one of the top-5 defenses in college football.
4) I'll believe thebadby2 that Nicholson has taken a step back this year, which only furthers the narrative we're familiar with that Narduzzi gets the best out of defensive players who look pedestrian without his input.
5) Worst case scenario: A super athletic player who obviously loves Narduzzi and who has already had special teams success and a nose for recovering fumbles takes up one of 85 scholarships and plays on special teams.
Is he finishing the year at MSU? If not would he not be eligible for a bowl game after the '16 season?
Thanks. Yes, that is what I was asking. Don't know if he'll do that, just my first thought when everyone was talking he would have to sit out next year.If he enrolls in Jan, he can "finish" his sophomore season in our bowl game AFTER next season.
I've seen him play, quite the athlete and would be a big pick up.I saw him play in high school and was hoping he would sign here. Made athletic plays as receiver but had the mean streak of a defensive player. Would like to see it happen in case things fall through with the other local db's that are being recruited
Hamlin is going to play Corner if he comes to Pitt. So I don't see any conflict having Nicholson on the roster. If it is MN, he'd have to sit-out a year. Would it be worth it to him? More like a Twitter rumor that started after Nicholson had another really bad game at RU and got benched in the 4th Q for a true freshman. He's still a starting safety for MSU, I don't think he's going anywhere. Probably just venting some frustration. After looking good as a freshman last season,he has really played poorly this year for whatever reason.I've seen him play, quite the athlete and would be a big pick up.
Is this a lock that he MN is transferring ?
Have you watched him play this year or followed his season at MSU? "Gamer" is not the word most would use.MN is a gamer, would be a big get. besides his position, he's a good special teams player.
