I know - huge grain of salt - but 7 of their top 25 available are CBs. There is a good chance the Steelers add there at the top of the 3rd round.

I think there’s also a chance they try to trade back into the second round and draft Greedy Williams (LSU) or Byron Murphy (Washington).

They just traded up to get into the top ten, so I guess all bets are off at this point.

One reason they did trade up is that I think this CB market is rather flat. Baker, Williams and Murphy might be the top guys, but the drop from them to Lonnie Johnson or the kid from Temple isn't that great. Same with WR, another need area where there are a lot of good, but no great players. So they might be content to stick with two thirds.

But after last night, who knows?

I agree with you about the CB market, but I think the top heavy nature of the ILB class was a bigger factor. You've got the two Devins and then a bunch of guys with significant flaws. Maybe Mack Wilson pans out, but the flip side is he's serving you burgers in a couple of years. The Devins just have so much talent, physical and mental, that if you need an ILB, you either trade up or worry about it next year. In terms of CBs, despite the market being somewhat flat, I can see a team falling in love with any of the top 5 or 6 CBs. I can't see anybody falling in love with an ILB not named Devin.

What do you think the’d have to give away to move up to the first half of the 2nd round to get one of those guys. I don’t see a third and one of their sixth being enough.

I agree, so just throwing something out there, are either of back-up Qb's moveable or of trade value?

You could say that about almost any of these kids. I don't disagree with your point about why they moved up for Bush. They obviously saw a big drop at ILB after him. But had they stayed at #20 and taken a corner, I don't think they would've gotten measurably better player than what they might get at #65 or whatever their next pick is. So that makes it easier to swing big.

This might be sacrilege, but personally, I don't think that Long from WVU is far off from Bush. He is a little lighter and not as good in coverage. But some team is going take him in the 4th or 5th and he is going to be a player.

I'm not sure either is more valuable than a 6th round pick.

I feel the same way, but it is kinda of odd that now, with some experience, they have less value, (4th and 3rd round picks) than they were acquired for. I guess back-up QB's , like new cars, drop in value as soon as you drive'em off the lot.

It's about quality of picks, not quantity. I am betting they try and trade back into Rd 2 to get Murphy or Williams.

Agree, it would probably take at least both thirds (likely a 6th too) to move up high enough to get either of those two. One guy I would consider at 66, that isn't a CB or WR, is Winovich. But he'll probably be gone as well.

It's not sacrilege because it's your opinion, but I vehemently disagree with it. Long and Bush may look similar, but Long is all intensity and no instincts. He's a poor tackler, useless in coverage, ill-disciplined...there are so many flaws with that kid. Yeah, maybe you can make that skill set work in the right scheme, but that's why he looks like a day 3 pick while Bush's stock has been soaring for the past few months.

You're basically comparing an undersized freak of an athlete who has very good instincts with an undersized above average athlete who has very poor instincts. Aside from size and position, I'm not seeing much that they have in common. Forget about Bush, I'm not even sure that Long is as good of a prospect as Sean Spence.

Just seeing this NCanton, so a little too late for them now, but I would’ve said both thirds this year and probably a late round pick this year or next.

Thought they might’ve pulled the trigger as Williams kept dropping and the price tag to move became a little less.

Wr isn’t a need
Moncrief signing was enough with current stable
