ESPN ranks Pitt's offensive line the best in the ACC for next year. (Link) Usually when I glance through these conference units rankings I'm happy if Pitt is above average in some combo of WR's, RB's, LB's, and DL. Only being 7 years old at the start of the Foge Fazio Fall ('82), I never knew a time when Pitt's OL was considered good, let alone the best in a very good conference. Two of the teams we're ahead of were in the Championship game in the past 3 seasons (Clemson, FSU), and another is a traditional Florida power (Miami).

I think football fans would generally agree that the two most important units to be good at are OL and DL. Well here we are ranked #1 in OL and #5 in DL (scroll down the page), out of 14 teams. Only Clemson (#2 and #4) and FSU (#3 and #1) are also top-5 in both. Wow!

Former HCPC had a plan and although he didnt stick around long, he definitely left current staff with some real maulers up front. A strong offensively line is not only attractive for other O-linemen but also for QBs and RBs. Guys want to play behind guys that can sustain blocks, clear running lanes, and quite frankly, own their counterpart for 60 minutes week in and week out.

Looking forward to watching our big boys this coming season.

-#2 in running backs, and #1 in the secondary, or arguably #1 per rivals. The other thread was deleted when I was posting all these links and they had Damar Hamlin as the top impact freshmen in the entire ACC. The talent is there to do damage, and the dline doesnt include Hendrix in that link.
