I'm gonna be honest, that was such a compelling documentary of Steve Gleason, the former special teams standout on the Saints. He retired in 2008 and in 2011 was diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease.

This documentary shows him from the day he was diagnosed and his early symptoms all the way through present day, where he can't speak, can't breathe on his own and is pretty much helpless. He uses a special computer to communicate and I'm telling you, it is so riveting and sad. Also shows his wife and how she went from being this free spirit who was always happy to someone who ends up seemingly to resent all the work she does to take care of him and their child.

Trust me guys, it is a must see and after watching something like that it really puts in perspective when we complain about a football or basketball game.

It's par for the course on here. This place reminds me to a degree like high school. Bunch of different cliques it's comical. Oh well, just wanted to let you guys know about the documentary.

Sounds like a downer. Bad things happen to good people. I'm gonna watch the burbs, think this is the last movie Carrie fisher was hot in.

I've seen enough coverage on Gleason to understand how horrible this situation is. I honestly don't think I can bear to see his wife portrayed in such a way when after he passes she's going to spend the rest of her life feeling guilty for feeling the way she likely does right now. He's a freaking hero for the way he handled all of this and for how he still was a father to his children while dealing with this disease. She's a freaking hero and a saint for somehow remaining any semblance of together through all of this.

Great points Phat. I've often said that if I get ALS I'm making peace with my family and friends and checking out. I have no desire to play hero and let it slowly kill me. Forget all that.

The actor in the natural did that. Also played the cop in Misery. Not ALS though, think it was brain cancer or some other terminal disease. Checked out on his own to save his family the agony and burden. .

I respect the hell out of that. Takes a big set of stones to do this.
