Looks like Al Golden not so Golden after all before being let go at Miami, good thing Pitt did not attract him, and Al chose Miami and did not work out there?
Excerpts:

Al Golden isn't very well liked by his former players at Miami, which should not be much of a surprise......Feliciano added: "We didn't find out the extent of Stephen's injury until the [NFL] Combine. By that time, its a red flag, he has a ruptured Achilles. Go on and Stephen doesn't get drafted. He's bouncing around the league now. Coach Golden has a degree in Psychology and he definitely used that." Feliciano also claims Golden made Anthony Chickillo gain 60 pounds to go from playing outside linebacker to defensive end. Chickillo has since moved back from defensive end to linebacker after getting drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015. Feliciano went on to note that the Canes played then-freshman QB Brad Kaaya in order to use the first-year player as a built-in excuse for a potentially poor season. He also said he was holding back "internal issues" that were worse than those he shared on the air Thursday.................While there is no way to know for sure whether these things happened and Golden was responsible, it is clearly not a good look for him or the university. Golden went 32-25 in five seasons as Miami's coach before getting fired in the middle of last season.

I agree with one of the post-article comments: How is it humanly possible to play football with a torn achilles?

More trouble at Miami!
Excerpt:

The Miami Herald is reporting that the potential NCAA violations stem from players receiving luxury vehicles from a car agency and says Young is expected to not be with the team for the entire 2016 season. Along with Young, the school is reportedly investigating whether star defensive end Al Quadin Muhammad and other football players are also guilty of potential NCAA violations, but Muhammad remains with the team for now.

One has to wonder where Al Golden went wrong? At Temple, the University required Recruits to have a Higher QPA 2.3 than the NCAA 2.0. Golden was able to attract and develop his Players into better teams.

Yet, when he went to Miami where he could Recruit many 5 & 4 Stars Players but did not win as much as expected, and now coming under scrutiny after dealing with a Miami's Booster's Scandal he did not know about until after he took the job?

Pederson wanted Golden to come to Pitt and one has to wonder if Pitt was lucky Golden did not consider Pitt and just jumped at the Miami job?

Al Golden is now happy to be just an Assistant Coach in the NFL and no longer consider a Golden Coach in the NCAA! This ends all talk at PSU that wanted Golden to comeback but PSU chose Franklin?

Thank goodness, Pitt grabbed Coach Pat Narduzzi that wanted to come to Pitt, and few to none want Golden or Franklin at Pitt! The Pitt's Pederson Buyout was worth every penny!

Actually, Golden did consider Pitt. He was viewed as a frontrunner (perhaps even THE frontrunner) to succeed Wannstedt (at that point presumed to be dead man coaching), but , as it turned out . . .

Golden, having revived Temple football, had the Owls in a late-season nationally-televised showdown for the MAC East Division title versus the other Miami, of Ohio, coached by one Michael Haywood. The lead-up to the kickoff feratured a clip of Haywood's pregame speech to his team in the locker room (one that would have done Knute Rockne proud). Then Haywood proceeded to coach the pants off Golden (in-game adjustments appeared to be Alfred's weakness even then). Suddenly, there was a new frontrunner for the Pitt job . . . and you know the rest of the story.

So in one way, the Miami Offer to Golden was taken by Golden and Pitt went after the Miami of Ohio Coach that beat Golden? Now I get it when I look up the meaning of Miami....It comes from a Seminole Indian word Myaamia which means 'Allies"!

The Seminole name for "Big Water" is Lake Okeechobee in Florida, and both Coaches Careers Sunk?

Thanks and good post!

Miami outbid us for Golden and we settled on Haywood. In retrospect, they both would have likely sucked no matter how it played out.
