Appears Hugley and Jeffress will not play.
Staters - Guillermo, Hinson,Burton, Elliott and Cummings
Dude, I went to Gannon as an undergrad. And trust me, when I was there, that team might beat this Pitt team. It was that good. Back to back DII Final 4's. Transfers from UNLV, ND, UConn, Providence and Georgetown.Great half and went as expected. This is not a good team at all we are playing but neither was Gannon last year.
-31 point lead at the half
-7 different players have scored for Pitt
-Defense held Clarion to 26% shooting
-Rebound margin is even without Big John
-11 steals on defense, led by Cummings and Santos with 3 apiece
-40% 3 point shooting, 83% ft throw shooting (5 different players made a 3)
-Cummings and Burton leading scorers
-1 Black eye of the half, Cummings with 4 turnovers himself on offense. The rest of the team combined had 1 total.
We are doing what we were supposed to do, come out and dominate against a bad team.
Could Federiko be better than expectedGreat half and went as expected. This is not a good team at all we are playing but neither was Gannon last year.

Federiko seems to be able to defensive rebound better than either twin. He also dunked and blocked shots today. He was 0 For 2 on FTs but that is too little data to conclude anything on how he will shoot FTs. I do suspect he will be a better backup option for Hugley than either twin—at least based on observing today’s live stats. But, we shall see.Could Federiko be better than expected
I think rebounding will be an issue with this team. Outside of Hugley not sure we have any good reboundersFederiko seems to be able to defensive rebound better than either twin. The twins didn’t statistically impress today. Also, Clarion seemed to get too many offensive rebounds when either manned the post. They did get a few assists to put on the positive side of their ledger.
Looking forward to observations from DT and/or others who were actually at the game.
If you mean secondary rebounders, it does look that way. However, if you mean a sub for Hugley when he is on the bench then I think Federiko works. Today he had 10 boards and 3 blocks in limited minutes and got 10 points on 5 dunks.I think rebounding will be an issue with this team. Outside of Hugley not sure we have any good rebounders

Could we play Hugley and Federiko simultaneously? Who knows? I suppose it could be possible, as Hugley is capable of playing off the low blocks as a big forward or in a double post (high-low) offense.
Since I didn't see the game I don't know if everyone except the bigs took off down court (rather than crashing the boards)after Clarion launched each jump shot. That could have been a factor. The constant shuffling of players in and out could have also factored into the problem.
The only thing I noticed from the live stats was that the twins weren't getting defensive rebounds and that defensive rebounding (and offensive also) improved a lot when Federiko was in the game.
is Clarion just that Bad?
Some of both.15 steals - Are we playing less passive defense or is Clarion just that Bad?
Why is everyone in a tizzy ?Who knows. We haven't played anyone yet. Let's see how the rebounding and defense play when we play somebody. If it doesn't improve, we're in for another long season.
For sure, when you are out scoring your opponent by 2-1, rebounding seems a little less important to what you are hoping to accomplish. Why is everyone in a tizzy ?
Pitt played without Hugley whose going to see 30+ minutes a game . Last time I looked he was somewhat important to the teams success .
Very few teams have the luxury to replace as important piece as Hugley is to their success and he’ll be back .
Jeffress has also shown some abilities ( except shooting ) to rebound and play D . He will be a plus player this season .
Why is everyone in a tizzy ?
This was an exhibition game and Pitt played without its most significant player / rebounder . From the accounts on here Hinson who looks like a bull also didn’t play much . As much as people discount Jeffress he will also help on the boards . Last season was last season this team has many new pieces let’s give it a chance .Who's in a tizzy?
Just because someone points out that rebounding might be a problem this year that doesn't mean that they are in a tizzy. Maybe, just maybe, it means that they saw something that was a problem last season that may very well end up being a problem again this season.

Seems to me saying something to the effect that without their best player , whose a strong post player , and limiting Hinson‘s minutes , who also is a strong force inside , Pitt struggled with rebounding would be more appropriate .Got it. So then no one should bother saying anything about anything at this point. Because to do otherwise would be to not give it a chance.
Just so we are all on the same page, how long should we have to wait to discuss what we saw? I mean surely even a couple regular season games won't be enough to draw real conclusions. So what, maybe the beginning of December? Christmas time? Sometime after the first of the year?
In the mean time, why don't we just shut the board down and all find something more productive to do!

Hearing from you maybe after the New Year sounds good .

I think you're approaching tizzy status.
