Give me...

1) Any random Saturday during the first nine weeks or so of the college football season.

It does hit a wall as the season progresses, but, beginning with GameDay and usually ending with a late-night west coast game, those Saturdays are as good as it gets.

2) First full weekend (well, four days) of the NCAA Tournament.

It's a little hokey for a sport like basketball to be decided in a single elimination tournament (of course there are going to be upsets under that premise), but it's still exciting as heck.

3) The first week or so of baseball season.

I'd probably choose the MLB playoffs if the Suckos were part of them more often, but baseball is usually put of sight and mind by then. Always good to see the outdoor sports start back up, though.

1) January - NFL playoffs & conference play for college basketball.

2) November - specifically the period around Thanksgiving when you have college football, NFL, and high-profile college basketball OOC matchups.

3) March - all of it - Conference tournaments, the NCAA Tourney, HS basketball State Championships.

4) Exact copy of your #1

5) NBA playoffs. Essentially mid-April through mid-June. It's great when the Celtics are contenders.

First weekend of the ncaa tournament and it’s not even close
Nope. The second weekend of the NCAA's as I prefer quality over quantity. But to each their own.

New Year's Day, although that is becoming less relevant.

Super Bowl. My only concession for professional sports. Pro hoops and hockey..........UGH.

i know ill come off as an old man here talking about the good ol days but growing up as a kid, nothing in this world was better than New Years day Bowls with college football. i mean, just games on cbs, abc, nbc from noon tili the orange bowl on nbc at 8pm..

back when we had to walk to school in snow storms, up hills both ways. now get off my lawn.

Yeah, that used to be a great day. Shame it changed so drastically.

I used to think the NHL playoffs were also fantastic, but I grew to despise hockey.

The NFL Draft comment above was spot on. I totally forgot about that, but it's up there.

the second weekend and the sweet 16 rounds are sooo much better than the opening round of ncaas. yeah, coppin state won, wow, a cinderella team blah blah. yeah, an upset, we've seen it before,

give me quality basketball games against actual teams that i've heard of over this nonsense every day of the week.

Could be better; could be worse. If a low seed snuck through, the Sweet 16 is often around the time when they start to get waxed. But if it's pretty close to chalk, you obviously get some good matchups.
A group of fiends tend to have a reunion during the first weekend - since it’s slightly less stressful for their teams (Kansas, UNC, Duke).

You get it. And this is coming from a guy who watched first-round games from dusk to dawn when ESPN covered them.

Ah, yes, it is.
Again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if play-ins and 1-16 matchups are your cup of tea, enjoy.
Upsets and Cinderellas are what make the tournament special .
I mean - by that notion -
You’d like conference championship weekend better than the first weekend of the dance ?

In no particular order.
The Masters weekend
The US Open weekend (golf)
The first 4 days of the NCAA tourney especially (not including the Dayton games)
NFL WC and Divisional playoff rounds. It's cold out, what else are you going to do??
A great college FB game in primetime that Fox has tried to destroy with its gay Big Noon Saturday

i get it, it's entertaining beause it's all day of hoops and a good reason to call of work or leave early and we all love that but the actual basketball on that first thursday and friday is usually very lopsided and poor games.

but again, it starts at like noon, gives you a reason to leave work so we all love it.

Your logic escapes me.
The third and fourth-round games, usually very good to great matchups, are a nice balance between the two. Twelve games in all. Isn't that enough?

It is for me.

Melbourne - March 16

June 11 - 2026

August 30 - d' Dukes
it's all subjective...

Madness 3-20-25 (solely if H2P dances)

Fiji - August 27th

Nice France September 14

and Calcio Storico - June 1st

lastly Feb. 9, especially if Jalen's swollen knee flares up... then two-gloves gets MVP over their (per this board) once overrated, presently HOF'er RB...

all those with some different order but exponentially better when Pitt BB is involved(realizing they aren't for a few ever in my lifetime)

the entire week between NCAAT first rounds and second weekend when Pitt made it through was like walking on clouds every single day in anticipation

that feeling only surpassed when my kids were competing or about to compete for state championships in HS
