Pitt according to my calculations only has 1 scholarship left and that's going to Devonshire.

That to me means that Pitt will not be adding a FB to the roster. I fully expect Pitt to need a FB next year, so who is it going to be? Are there any walk-ons worth the job? Will it be Jimmy Medure?

I'm going to go with Medure.

That leaves Pitt with Van Lynn, Carrigan, Gragg and Collier at TE. I know there are a few people on this board who think Van Lynn is going back to OT, but I don't see it. Van Lynn is a pretty decent athlete imo and should stay as a TE and allow Houy, Drak and Warren battle it out for OT.

What say you?

Once again assuming you know the offense Pitt runs next year...

If our offense next year requires a traditional fullback for more than the occasional short yardage or goal line package, we are going in the wrong direction offensively.

Keep an eye on athletic DE's that have come aboard in the last class or two. Even LB's to be moved to TE and FB respectively.

Most fullbacks are walk ons anymore so not too worried about that
Least impactful position on any current football team, followed closely by traditional blocking tight end.

Canada found creative but simple ways to weaponize ours. Then along came Watson....

I love having a lead blocking back, aka fullback. absolutely love it. sad to see this position going the way of the do do bird.. its ridiculous how much of an impact someone like Aston had on the running game..

Pitt's problem is that the offensive line isn't really a strength but when you're lining up a FB and a TE (or two) in a formation, you're probably going to move a few bodies and create a running lane. That strategy is cool for a large portion of your schedule but when you suddenly run into a defense with speed or a solid d-line, you're hosed. I guess my point is, I'm cool with Pitt moving away from that and only using a FB in obvious short yardage situations.

I would be willing to bet you will see more than 1 additional ‘ship given out before the season starts. Players will transfer or move on with their life’s work.

Mimes - who came in as a DE - was moved to TE last season. No idea if he’s any good as a TE, but at least he looks the part...

Go Pitt.

Go Pitt.
He was recruited in as a raw athletic project with upside as opposed to a football player.

Never know what you're gonna get with one of those.
