I was bored today so I just started looking at some of the schools around the country that recruit well. The surprise in the top 15 right now is North Carolina which has been discussed. However when you look at the guys they have landed they are mostly from North Carolina. There are a ton of 4* star kids from NC. They are doing very well in their home state. Other programs like the typical blue bloods do well in their home states however also get alot of national guys too. Carolina has almost all their recruits from either NC or a state touching it. It kinda just goes to show in my opinion how far PA has fallen in terms of recruiting grounds. Yes we have some really good kids in PA and that will never change. However in terms of nationally ranked kids that can really make a class for Pitt....no it is not there.
Penn St also takes a few of these kids and some obviously leave. However there are what 4 Power 5 schools and 2 FBS schools in NC. That is more pressure than we have here in PA. Also just like PA, NC is getting some kids poached. Its just kind of crazy how things have changed in PA in the last 20 years. We have a good haul of PA kids this year and I know stars kinda don't matter to an extent. But man there are an embarrassment of riches down south. I am glad that HCPN realized this and is looking anywhere and everywhere for talent.
