PSU:

ESPN: 18
Rivals: 23
Scout: 23
247: 19

Average: 20.75

Pitt:

ESPN: 31
Rivals: 30
Scout: 27
247: 30

Average: 29.5

WVU:

ESPN: 37
Rivals: 39
Scout: 34
247: 39

Average: 37.25

ESPN's list shows how far each team gained since their last ranking. Texas climbed a whopping 22 spots in the rankings. Pitt and Alabama tied for second with a 7-spot climb. PSU dropped 3 spots.

So the ESPN ranking... that PSU fans hung their hats on.... has now come more into line with the other services.

Wvu and Pitt are a draw on the field and wvu would beat us on the field. What does that say about recruiting?

They recruit to a system and I believe those backwoods animal lovers will have a good season next year.

PSU had a very good class. Lets not mistake that. However, it was supposed to be and could have been Top 5 or Top 10. In the end, it was roughly equal to ours.

If PSU's class was "roughly equal" to Pitt's, then PSU's class was also "roughly equal" to a top 10 class.

Penn State still finished with a very good class. Pitt finished with it's best class in years. I understand why you guys are excited but remember back when PSU had a top 10 class and Pitt wasn't even top 50, this board was saying "recruiting rankings don't matter and it's all about coaching up the guys you have." Well now that your class has improved, all of a sudden the tone has changed and recruiting rankings matter again.

Penn State did about as well as they can do having 3 straight 7-win seasons. Until the product on the field improves, Penn State can't realistically expect to finish any higher in recruiting than they did this year.

As much as I appreciate what Hack did for the program by sticking with his commitment when he could have went anywhere, he was not the right fit for this team and the offense should improve with a quarterback that can avoid the rush and not have so many negative plays. When you have a below average O-line and a quarterback that is immobile you get 7 win seasons.

Actually, it's quite a feat to win 7 games with a below average Oline and an immobile QB.

Go Pitt.

Honest question, did you attend penn state or are you simply a fan?

I would go with branch campus Alum. If you state WVU and PITT are a draw, and that WVU would beat PSU on the field; wouldn't that also hold true to PITT? Also, doesn't everyone recruit "to a system"? I doubt Alabama is recruiting a bunch of OL who are better at Pass Protection than Run Blocking. The opposite would hold true for a team like OK State.

PSUguy, I think you understand why our forum gets annoyed with some of the PSU "fans" who decide to venture over here.

Only fools believe recruiting rankings dont matter. Every study done shows they matter.......a lot. But everyone agrees that coaching and player development matter also. Franklin has proven to not be a very good coach. Narduzzi.....the jury is still out. But when you are talking about a class ranked about #20 vs one ranked about #30, there isnt much difference there. Just like there isnt much difference between #30 and #40. As for your comment about PSU's class being roughly equal to a Top 10 class, thats not how it works. The higher ranked the class, the more accurate the rankings are. For example, I dont know who is #10, lets say Nd, the evaluation of their players are easier and more accurate than comparing the teams with the #90 and #100 recruiting classes. The further down the list you go, the harder it is to differentiate. 20 and 30 are closer than 1 and 11 and 10 and 20.

Oh I don't read BWI. At all. When I read PSU I'm on 247. Fans who troll over here are retarded. Although it does go both ways and there are some blow hard Pitt fans who yell and scream over there. I'm not interested in any of that. Just talking football.

I joined rivals again bc Pittsburgh has a terrible network over on 247 bc they had a moron named Karlo running it into the ground and this is the most active board I saw so I joined. I actually like discussing football with other fan bases, grows knowledge.

My point to this lionrevival is if you click on his post history, he literally only bashes penn state and talks about how Pitt and wvu are better. To me that's just peculiar since I really don't know any PSU fans who aren't excited about some of these kids like sanders, Menet and McGovern. Yes PSU lost some guys late but still finished with a class ranked in the top half of the big 10 and addressed huge needs (particularly special teams, our punter was AWFUL last year)

He just screams reverse troll if that makes sense. Some loser in his moms basement with too much time on his hands.

Concerning the bolded part.... that's not what we were saying. What we were saying was that the recruiting ranking in November doesn't matter, the recruiting ranking in February does. In November you had the 9th ranked class and Pitt was 55th. Today, you have the 23rd and Pitt has the 30th (according to Rivals).

From where the teams were in November, PSU's class collapsed. Pitt's class surged.

Go Pitt.
Actually... given the schedule PSU played, it would have been damn near impossible NOT to win 7 games.... no matter what their Oline and QB were like.

Pitts class was definitely better, no question

A. Penn State didnt even fill up their slots
B. 2 of their recruits are 3 star kickers, which is nuts
C. they had guys flip, and others looking

Teh Teh would you please call all the services and tell them Pitt's class is better than PSU!!I guess they all made a mistake in their rankings!I will agree that there is not much of a difference in talent between 15-30 ranked classes.

yeah, they did make a mistake. I could care less about what they say. You know it, I know it... you guys got your asses kicked all week long.

I KNOW no one at Pitt would trade classes with UPS. Like I said, we won every battle. You got Sanders back when Narduzzi just started, and that was on Chryst. For that matter, I dont even care about Sanders, I know we will lose one or 2 a year to you guys from Pittsburgh, probably 10% of the football fans there favor UPS and their kids are bound to favor them as well... we can lose those, its getting the majority that I want, and we certainly did that. Cant wait to pummel your team later this year.
