This is all GOOD news. It forces their hand. Better to know now before the draft, and it might even force them to take some risks and sign a free agent or 2.

These guys where about done, sports careers are short, these guys had triple the average NFL career, time to move on and make serious efforts to fill their spots.

I'd be good with them taking DBs with their 1st 2 picks this year and plugging them into the lineup and letting them sink or swim if that's what it takes. And there might even be some free agents to consider after June 1st.

79, agree 100% on all points.

Do you remember Ike complaining last year when the Steelers encouraged the pay cut ?

If underperforming and injured ... I would certainly understand the request albeit a kick to the groin.

Did a quick look, pay cut to $2,750,000 from $7,000,000.

One of the never-to-be-solved mysteries of the Pittsburgh Steelers is "how many interceptions would Ike have had in his career if he had hands that were at least average?" I'm guessing that he would have set records.

Good. This organization needs to get back to letting guys go one year too early than one year too late. Their cap situation is horrific and their sense of loyalty to some of these guys is a bigger hindrance than a help.

Despite having $9.9 million in dead money, (most of it thanks to Woodley) with Troy's retirement and what's left after the rookie-pool allotment, the Steelers should have enough cap space to extend both Heyward and DeCastro this summer.
