Wide receiver Michael Smith, who didn't play football until his junior year of high school and a season later broke all the reception records at one of Florida's largest high school, gave Pitt a verbal commitment Wednesday. Smith, 6-foot-2 1⁄2 and 205 pounds, recorded 1,500 yards, 24 touchdowns and averaged more than 20 yards per reception this season at Vero Beach, coach Lenny Jankowski said. “He has freakish athleticism,” Jankowski said. “He has punt-return athleticism in a big body, which is a unique combination. He took over football games. He really dominated.”.......................... Pitt has more recruits from Florida than any other state. There are five from Pennsylvania, including four WPIAL players, and four from Ohio.

Top defensive back from Connecticut commits to Pitt:
Pitt on Tuesday received its 20th verbal commitment for next season when cornerback Jason Pinnock of Windsor, Conn., told coach Pat Narduzzi he plans to enroll this year.“I will be cancelling all future visits I have scheduled to other universities,” he wrote on his Twitter account. “I am closing my recruitment for good.”

I see it the other way.....recruits not choosing Pitt might find out later down their College Football Career Trails it actually later hurts them in their attempts to find NFL Teams Trials for them and their prosperity!

The Smartest Recruits go where they know or are confident they can play right away and that is where they are coached and needed.

Pitt Is A Right Fit For Any Recruit With Such Acumen!

Is this kid the best find of this recruiting cycle. Considering the time, money & effort / the talent, ability & potential I believe we just may have hit onto another Antonio Bryant type of athlete.
If we broke this down to a Fantasy League type of value considering payback or payoff too energy & time spent recruiting.....could this be our biggest potential value recruit ? Only time will tell but I really like this kid, really like what he can do on a football field.
What I distrust most about these recruiting sites grading out kids before they even get into the summer before their senior year of H.S. is how absurd it is to attempt to try summing up a kid when he has soooo much growing up, maturing, developing, learning, etc. to do in that 1 extra year (being the year after leaving H.S. his Jr. year thru his senior year).
Yet every year the same people will go apeshit crazy if Pitt is not getting recruits to commit in May, June, July, etc.... as if there will be no one left to recruit worth while during & after their senior year of play when you will see an even more complete player(for good or bad) than before their senior years play.

This is one of my favorite recruits this year. Smith has a combination of size and speed for a future No. 1 receiver, but he is just getting started. He exploded onto the scene as a senior and with such limited experience, you hope he is just beginning to tap his potential. Definitely a huge upside with this kid.

I saw that article excerpt above before this post, and thought of AB as well. One of my favorites to watch. Got kind of left in the dust of memory after Fitz, Baldwin and Boyd came after. Plus, of course, he went kind of batsh*t crazy once in the pros...

If a guy could ever approach the level of AB, doubt many other recruits in many team's classes could beat him as far as a "value recruit" ...
